yeah i saw the wheels advertised and straight away i knew they were a bargain so pretty much jumped on them there and then lol.
With the gears i've gotta say that it launches noticeably better than with the stock ratio, but have gotten used to it fairly quickly as it wasnt a huge ratio change. Being manual it already revved higher at 100k in fifth than the auto equivalent... with the 3.5's it revs about 2600 at 110 or something, i cant quite remember off the top of my head though.
As for economy i've never really paid that much attention til i fitted the level 3 dash, and thats only been in for a little while. I did take note of economy on the way back to sydney from port macquarie a few weeks ago and managed to get it to 11L/100km over the whole 500-something km trip which included a bit of suburban driving at both ends. I thought that wasnt too bad.
Still getting used to the LSD as its the first time i've driven a car with one that actually works. It did have one when i got it but it was pretty stuffed. It's good fun on grass now especially lol.
Oh i heard from the spray painters yesterday about my bootlid... they havent started on it at all a bit like BS when they tell you theres a 2 week wait on all work, then when i go to book it in which i did march 1 they tell me earliest date is march 31. ffs. I dont like the odds of it being done by the cruise. But i guess as long as the wait is worth it i'll survive. lol.
So after these few things are sorted there'll be a gearbox rebuild, rockers, maybe a tune, then start saving for turbo

mmm so things are a bit up in the air atm... with the unfortunate demise of my uncle today it seems i will be coming into some money soon. With the rough idea of how much it will be, some will be going on my loan and the rest will possibly be getting me my turbo kit. That said, the turbo will need to be run in for probably a couple thousand km's, so i can do that with my "in-need-of-a-rebuild" getrag before moving to a t56 6 speeder, that will definately be able to handle the power. I'm not completely confident on the ability of the getrag to be able to handle the extra power from the turbo.
To do list:
1. Get new bootlid sprayed and fitted (still waiting )
2. Get YT Split ratio RR's
3. Fix my "tick"ing motor if i can
4. Purchase turbo kit, injectors (not included i dont think), boost controller, gauges etc
5. Organise new zorst
6. Put it all together + tune

still kickin... turns out spray painter forgot about my bootlid ffs. Anyway he said they'll be getting onto it this week and need the car down there some time for a test fit and colour match. If it aint done before the canberra/bathurst cruise may 25 i'm gonna be really pi$$ed off!
More than one reason i want it done, so i can stuff around with getting a remote boot release for low series BCM's working, should probably get a bit of interest and a little less "wank factor" than my engine start button lol. I'd try on the missus VS now but she said to bugger around with mine first haha.
Oh also ordered some calais tail lights, i think i'll leave em for a bit before i think of tinting them as sometimes, imo it "cheapens" the look of the car.
Wanna get a strut brace really soon, the 19"z have made a noticeable difference in the way she handles through both the weight of them, and lifting the whole car up a bit.
Also thinking about resetting the springs all round a bit, ever since i got her lowered in october '06 i've not been happy with the way it sits, particularly in the rear. The driver's side rear is a bit higher than the passenger side, i think it's designed that way so when you sit in it, it's level or something, but i dont like it. I just wanna tuck a lil tyre!
Still on suspension, it's also got a really thin rear swaybar (something to do with the OE country pack suspension) that tends to lift the inside wheel through corners, particularly noticeable in roundabouts. It's not a good feeling at all, be nice to get a heavier duty one, just don't know what kind yet. It'd also be nice to get some new front swaybar links, and the rear upper control arms could do with replacing as i'm starting to notice a slight vibration on fast takeoffs. So it looks like i should get a few things done in one hit lol.
Unfortunately rego and CTP is due on my work van on the 25th ($900) so thats a bit anoying, but i'll be aiming to get my new boot on, remote boot release working, new front swaybar links and either the strut brace on or a stiffer rear swaybar before the cruise. Here's hoping.

This could be due to springs being in the wrong sides.
I've done this on the fornt before, put left on the right and right on the left. Drivers side sat lower then passenger side.

Ahh i get ya, but then wouldnt it just be higher on the passenger side, or does it somehow even out?

they somehow even out. I could be wrong but they mark them left and right for a reason.

mmm the suspension shop put them in, if they're the wrong way round then it's their fault lol. Might try swapping them over when i get a chance.
Heard some more about my bootlid, its all prepped ready for spray, they even took the lip off for no extra $$$, even though i said dont worry. So waiting soo long for it has had some benefit lol. Apparently they'll be in contact on wednesday to organise a time to get the car down there to get it put on FINALLY... also got the calais tail lights i ordered from Cars R Us yesterday, which'll go in after the new bootlid is on.
All i can say is, about time.

lol yeah i know what you mean, its taken way too long. And yes i better have it before then or else , should hear something this wednesday, hopefully arranging a time for fitting, some time this week or saturday would be best lol.
Oh i've also started fixing up the berlina grilles i got a couple months ago, wasnt happy with my painting efforts so i'm taking them both back to full chrome. Done one so far, looks pretty good. Will hopefully put up pics of a few different things really soon.

mmm so its been a fair while since i updated here, got my boot lid (complete with s pac boot lip and deleted boot lock) back in time for cruisin, since then also fitted new calais tail and boot lid lights, got boot garnish painted and put on, just need to get around to fitting the new lion for the bootlid.
As i got the boot lock deleted, i wanted a way to open the boot remotely, and am currently working on a solution for this to work with low series BCMs. Once i get it all together and working properly and reliably, i'll do a write up as i'm sure there'll be some interest.
Also finally finished my full chrome berlina grilles and put them in. I didn't like the grey background on the grilles and originally tried painting them black, but that came out a bit too dodgy for me. So I whipped out the thinners and some fresh rags and set to work removing the black and the grey underneath it also. Total time spent removing the black and grey layers of paint was like 2 1/2 hours, my arms were so stuffed afterwards! They went back to chrome perfectly. From straight on they look like chrome gril | | |
