    Default VS Omega

I haven't posted my ride yet so here goes..

    VS OMEGA
    Alaskan White VS Exec (1996)
    3.8L ECOTEC V6
    GM 4L60-E 4sp Auto

Car was bought completely stock, used to be a telstra fleet car. It came with speed alert, power mirrors, keyless entry and no IRS/ABS/SRS

Since getting the car I've done a few things to it:
    - 2.5" catback straight through exhaust
    - Pioneer DEH-2950MP head unit
    - Fusion Encounter AM-3002 (2 chan 300w amp)
    - Soundstream Rubicon 12" sub (I feel the amp can't power it, but that's another story.. going to need another amp)
    - Trying to remove the strips on the doors (bought a caramel/rubber eraser wheel) but it's too hard.. might paint them or try again
    - Colour coded boot strip/mirrors
    - Removed grill inserts

Got lots of plans for it, but I change my mind every 15 minutes so I won't bother posting them, I'll have changed my mind!

    Some progress!

I finally got around to removing the moulds and urethane that was underneath, it was extremely easy after changing the drill I used the attachment on (maybe the old one wasn't very good). Used cutters to get the left over/smudged mess and came up perfect.

Also got some wheels off my brother (thanks ) from a VX Berlina, they look good, 100% better than hubcaps though missing a centrecap so I'll have to get some new ones. I took the red parkers out as the build quality was inferior to say the least; one went, followed shortly by the other.

Sub went in the bin as it was damaged, I have a temporary MTX unit in there which I want to replace, running from an Infinity Reference amp (going to use the Fusion for speakers).

Didn't end up going the SCV6OTRCAI, just cut a big hole in the front of the airbox instead which gets the air in there through the K&N panel filter.

More to come (in another 7 months? hopefully sooner )!

Ever been picked on with the P plates? as they have to be square a certain colour blah blah blah?

It's a little different colour down here in SA as to you though

Never said anything, don't think they can say anything either because it's a normal, perfectly coloured, perfectly sized/proportion P plate sticker, but there's about a 2mm gap around it and then the splatter sticker (so it's two halves). With the tinted windows it's much more visible which is a plus for them, half the cars I see have the P plates fallen off/lying on the parcel shelf or the tint's too dark to see the things.

My biggest concern is with the reflectors, I want to replace (somehow) the white reflectors in the taillights with red, either by reflective sticker or some other solution I haven't thought of yet).. though I've got the red ones on the bumper for now so it doesn't look like I'm flaunting the law

Yeah, The reason i ask is because I'm in the same boat as what you just pointed out, My Tint is usually pretty dark, And was thinking of doing something like you've done "Obviously with white though"

And yeah, I was wondering about your tail lights, I'm heap's worried about being defected, that everything i do i make sure is ADR approved before hand, and knowing those tail lights are not ADR approved makes me a little nervous if I really do want them or not, They look really awesome being grey.

I love your car too, Not very often you see someone try and do their VR / VS up and actually leave the spoiler on, I was debating weather or not to remove mine, But everybody's done it, and on some vehicles it look's good. And i like it on yours.

Thanks for the comments - been doing the centre console lately, picked up a new one from a VR because mine had holes drilled in it and the plastic in the compartment snapped off from the mounting points (so it was always wriggling left and right). Dyed it a nice matt black (going into darker blues and blacks now rather than that awful light blue from the glovebox and fuse covers

Let's play a game! - guess the mistake in the attached picture which had me facepalming until I thought of an alternative. Remember my car's a VS V6 lol.

Winnar! In theory it would be easier to use the old panel but I soldered the connections for the other stuff that runs from the 12v after fitting it and really don't want to resolder it, plus I like the clean look so I'm going to move the switch somewhere else (along with the outside neon/inside neon/electro shift kit switches)... thinking next to the steering column (the fuse cover) with one of those fancy marine panels but they're a bit expensive for switches

I think that's what I'll do, already got one in there for the the outside neons, might as well move them all in there and move the alarm led somewhere else... now to source those switches (wagon will be easier than higher model)

Actually I'm going to disconnect the front one, never use it anyway (it's the only one) and use that switch for the interior neons I'm currently doing. My latest thing besides doing the VE lion badge has been the interior, got a new centre without any holes, dyed it black and redyed the glovebox/under steering wheel covers black to make the bottom half black with blue and the top half grey with blue. Oh and

Painting the dash is a pretty common and boring thing but it had to be done, what I'm going to do soon with it will be a bit different (don't want to give it away yet )... also pictured is the handbrake boot fitted (better pic)... I also decided to use the VS gear selector surround with power button, too much involved moving the button for no apparent reason.

EDIT: Did the grills the same colour as the interior but don't have a photo atm

EDIT 2: Turns out I do have a picture of grills but car's dirty as... oh well
