Default Emans VR Wagon. Even if you hate wagons, you'll like this one

    Hey guys,

Got some updated pics of my car. Originals (not my car, random web search), Previous and Current.

    Specs...
    Holden Commodore VR Executive
    3.8L V6 Manual 5spd
    134,xxx kms

    Upgrades
    CAI
Pacemaker exhaust + 3" custom made system (all the way through), no rear muffler + upgraded CAT
Ultra low suspension / Upgraded struts, dampers, sway bars, panhard rod, strut bars etc
18" VY SS rims with brand new rubber
    New performance racing clutch
    ECU remapping
Pioneer DVD headunit plus amp/subby etc (high end)
Custom painted interior including new black carpet/roof lining etc
    Very dark tint
Blackwidow 10,000 series alarm with lots of special bobby traps

Ive also replaced most normal parts like steering system (rack/pump etc), water pump, alternator, brake pads, handbrake cable, fuel pump etc etc etc

    Future Upgrades (In order)
    Cross Drilled/Slotted rotors
    LSD
    K&N Air Filter
VX Steering Wheel (HSV or SS)
    Gearknob + boot
    VX/VY/VZ HSV or SS Seats
Rear LCD Screens/ Inverter / Dual Xbox (Lan)
Upgraded roller rockers (1.8) + Rocker Covers
    Supercharger (8-10psi) + Intercooler

    Original (Thanks to carsales)

    Previous to upgrades

    Currently

"P" Plate is up/showing in the above pick...

I need to take a few better pics on the interior, the light was bad for taking photos that day. Havnt really started work on the interior, paintwork needs a touchup plus the VX/VY/VZ SS Seats + Steering Wheel should improve the look (overcast is better)

The engine bay needs a clean, havn't cleaned it in months. It looks pretty plain at the moment, but a S/C + Intercooler should make it look a little better.

Would really love some feedback/ideas, I'm on a traineeship at the moment so I'm spending every hard earned penny on it (I'm 21, i saved every dollar for this car and paid for it entirely myself. Parents offered to pay half but i wanted to earn it for myself)
The car isn't thrashed, its washed weekly and stored in the garage. I take a lot of care in keeping it in mint condition. While I'm after performance, its more to "boasting" about it than thrashing the car every second chance. Most of the mechanical work including the interior painting/carpet has been done by hand, learning as i go. Great car to learn on, i love it to bits

Hope you enjoyed my pics . Thanks for looking

Hey, Not necessarily change your mind about ALL wagons, but so far ive shown a few people who generally don't like wagons as a rule, but they reckon this one is an exception.

It's a nice clean straight car and the red does make it stand out and the wheels suit it .
Needs more performance to match the RED colour.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the input. Trying to save to get the power level up, but yeah money aint easy to comeby (especially on a traineeship). What do you mean by rear garnish? Are you talking the grey bar below the window/above the number plate? Im looking to paint that black very soon, just need some time.

What do you think of this Ebay kit? (I know ebay is bad, but yeah...)
VN VP VR V6 COMMODORE STAGE 3 CAM PACKAGE MEMCAL CHIP - eBay Engine Modifications, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 17-Feb-08 19:28:01 AEDST)
If i was to upgrade the cam, would it also be wise to upgrade the roller rockers? Im actually thinking it might be nice to keep it N/A, purely as its fully legal for any P plater but also to be a little different. I know im dreaming, but how nice would it be to have a N/A V6 buick quicker than a L67 S/C....

    Yeah ill keep dreaming...

    Cheers, Errol.

im jealous of the good paint, the previous owner of mine let it get sun damaged, would cost me 5k to get it looking nice

i like the rims too, but I think when I have the money I'll go for some VY senator sigs

The VE Sportswagon is the wagon that i like, even though im not a fan of wagons!

That said, you have a nice clean example of the Holden Family Hauler. Paint looks nice, body looks straight and clean, and i gotta say i love the stance. VY SS Rims and not over the top lowering. Very Nice. Also love the manual. I wish there were more 5 Speed Sixes around.

Any ideas on the charger you want, or just "browsing" at the moment?

Looking forward to seeing that and the other mods happen for you. Good Luck with it.

She's a nice wagon, but a little plain jane. They all do though without any sort of dark window tint, but I went as far to put venetians in to give it that extra character again. In one pic it looks like it has no tint, but in others looks like it's dark.

Did you take the spoiler looking thing off the tailgate? I was curious in that because it adds some more character to the car, and being a wagon owner myself, it was the first thing I noticed above everything else.

Are they factory? Coz.. I want one if they are!

I wouldn't bother with xboxes at all unless they're xbox 360's. The original xboxes aren't really good while they're mobile and they're next to useless. They're only good while the whole car is stationary. What you're better off doing is using a laptop with dual head because it's got twice as power, twice as configurable and there's a lot more you can add to them as well. E.g. the HP e-PC is smaller than an xbox and is a P4 1.8 GHz as opposed to a PIII 766 MHz with proprietary software that's hard to modify.

Using a small p.c. you could probably get 4 independant displays from the one p.c. but an e-pc couldn't do this as they don't have room for agp cards themselves. e-pc's use approximately the same power (roughly 12v at 4 amps and 19v at 2amps) as an xbox and about quarter of the power used for a 1500W sub. My Sub pulls about 28amps, so I'm not worried about the power consumption of a small p.c.

One benefit of the e-PC over a standard p.c. is the p.c. is built out of laptop parts except for the actual hard drive themselves which is a standard IDE hdd same as an xbox, but the cdroms in these p.c.'s are designed to be used while the car is mobile. You can also control the whole p.c. using XP via a touchscreen monitor.

I'm not sure if the xbox will let you interface with a touchscreen without running dynebolic linux as the operating system. Most people run dynebolic linux to get use of the extra ram they've just soldered into their xbox and as a cd-rom based multimedia centre but you just can't run this while the car is mobile unless the xbox is modded and you've got dynebolic installed to the hdd.

The cdroms in standard xboxes (not sure about 360's here) actually damage the disc if they're bumped while the xbox is reading and can destroy the cd / dvd in seconds with extreme unrepairable deep scratching.

These are the ones they use on Pimp My Ride: DriveSoft

    Looks Good Man.

Did you convert it to manual? or is it factory.

because vr's in manual are rare enough. let alone a wagon.

Got any Boot shots. wouldn't mind checking out the audio gear.

nice ride, i'm thinking of getting a wagon preferably manual, how much fuel do you use per week and many km per week and was it hard to find a manual wagon?

Hey guys, Sorry for the late reply... Dont check this thread much :P.

Um its factory manual, which is rare... Especially at >150,000kms.

Im about to start working on it again (been busy with computers etc).

In the next few weeks ill be dropping a SC14@10psi intercooled S/C in, as well as port/polished heads and upgraded roller rockers.

As to the interior, im going to put in a VS Calais or Caprice interior, not sure which one yet. Probably going to spend around $6k, then be happy with it :P.

Will post more pics of the work...

    Cheers

How much did it/has it cost you so far mate? I have a VS series 2 Acclaim wagon with 180k on the clock not really interested in motor mods but making it a nice drive and super reliable would be the goal. I'm a big fan of Wagons cos I fish and surf and drink lots and like having a bed in the back!! Any pointers on where to start? I will be uploading some photos of the stock girl soon.
