    Default My new ride

Hey everyone, Im from Hamilton, NZ. Finally got a commodore. It's something I have wanted for quite a while. It's a 1994 VR SS 5.0L 5spd with Anthracite Grey paint & 159,000 k's on the clock, (I had an absolute dog of a time tracking a manual down) of which i've had all of 3 weeks.

The car came with an auto to manual conversion done, k&n pod filter, extractors into what looks like a 2 1/2" system & HSV rims. Also has an older style Kenwood radio / tape headunit with a Kenwood 10 disc cd stacker in the boot & stock speakers which will do for now. (will miss my stereo from my first car)

These pics are from the auction site I got the car from.

As you can see from the pics the engine bay dose'nt look like it had been cleaned at all which has now had a clean up. The rusty looking radiator cap has already been turfed for a nice new shiney lever style cap. There are the usual stone chips on the front end but the rest of the paint is mint & there is a small dent on the back left or right hand corner (cant remember which side) which is barely noticeable. Also as this was an auto the cruise control still works!!!! which I am stoked about that.

I have had a immoboliser alarm installed & that is about all for now.

Glad to see you got what you wanted in the end, and the 5ltr wont disapoint.
But damn does it need a clean up.
    Any future plans for it?

Plans in the near future are... (when I sell off my other car) get it resprayed in black and definitly get the aircon going again, but as summer is well and truly over not too worried about that just yet. And if funds allow, drop the ride height and a set of 18"s.

Power wise, 165kw is a pretty dam good increse from 85kw so will leave that alone for a while, but will be looking into upgradeing the power level later on.

And Juzo, there was no 2 ways about getting the manual box even though it took a while to find one. I don't think I could live with an auto, no way near as much fun.

Sweet ride man. V8 with a manual behind it has got to be a lot of fun. Black paint is a good plan, can't go wrong with a nice fresh black paint job. The colour will suit the V8 sound.

Here are some better pics. You can clearly see the new radiator cap and as well as the new clear side indercators I got yesterday.

The pod filters sound is muffled by the big bore and it should work better than it does now when i get around to getting a sheild for it as it gets hot radiator air being blown in it.

Have also got a later model bodykit for the car comeing. Just have to pick it up in the coming weekend

Cheers, the bay isnt really up to showroom condition yet in my opinion it needs constant attention as well as the rest of the car since I have to travell up and down a gravel driveway at home and at work there is a heavy machinery parts yard on grass/dirt across the road and when its windy the car gets covered in dust, the pic makes it look better than it really is.

Now just have to wait till Sunday so I can pick up the bodykit. Then I'll have to save some pennys so I can respray the car black. But for the meantime I'll spray the Kit in black primer and get it fitted so at least it wont stand out like dogs balls while I save for a compleate respray.

Had a close call on the weekend, discovered a crack in the top radiator hose as I was 10mins into a 120km trip, so have replaced the top and bottom hoses. Also done a bit more of a clean up under the bonnet.

Was suposed to be red but turned out more orange.

And polished up the left fuel rail so far

And heres what the right one looks like before I get stuck into it

Shattered. Completely ruined the look of the car with that kit. Leave them to the Auto V6 execs.
