    Default My ute

Hey dudes, will post some good pics soon when I get a chance to take some decent photos, heres a preview

    VS S 98 III Ute 5 speed, 5ltr

    Redback single sports exaust
    Koni adjustable short stroke shocks
    LSD

not sure yet whats been done under the hood but it's been
coloured, possible cam, + others. Sounds, handles (dry) & Goes very well.

If anyone can tell me some interesting 5ltr effective but low cost engine mods that would be great too. Also I think the thermo may have been taken out, it registers as a little bit above a quarter heat when sitting at lights, I can open the motor but dont have the time atm, does this reading sound too low?

    5ltr + 5spd would be nice , specialy in a ute..
if ur after some cheap power u could
go for a Cold air induction prices from $60 for a holden version to $230 for the SS inductions kit. also speak to Foamie for a new memcal every cent worth it!
this isnt a power upgrade but u can make ur car more repsonsive by adding Diff gears say 3:45 or 3:7's depending were u drive to..
    nice car once again

check out my vr when u get a chance =)

Hey thanks for the reply dude, nice ride, you look familiar.....u from the Preston area?
I see youve had the memcal upgrade, does this greatly increase fuel usage? How did it affect the performance, with foamies tune, Keeping in mind I granny the car most of the time and get away with 50 a week. Will do the cold air intake, the diffs pretty low as it is, revs at 2000rpm at 100 klm in 5th,, and doesn't hold traction properly in second, thats with 235's and a lsd, so the diffs cool i do a bit of highway stuff.
Well woopdeygoddammdidoo, your in Mooneys town..and you aint got no rights!

na man im from other side of town ( clayton - oakleigh ) but npz
yer i got the memcal done its a hsv clubsport 185i memcal with foams tweaks..
basicly it uses no extra fuel but once u punch it puts a smile on ur face lol
it is programmed to recieve extra juice in the top end but basic driving im sure it would be same as u have now or maybe even beter.. before i got my stage2 shift kit it churped into 2nd with the memcal so happy with that
Cold air inductions is a must Imo

    Sounds like a goer,

I'm thinking the series III might be different than yours, im pretty sure they had the same engine as the Vt's, which was 180kw

Memcal sounds like the way to go.

getting cold air induction next service.

    thanks for the info

Nice ute mate, looks really neat.

As with the temp issue, I think that all VR's sit a about a quarter. Mine does but it's a 6 though. The VS onwards run at about halfway in the 6's. Not sure if this info relates to 5ltrs too.

Hey nick, yeah in my 94 VR- V6 ute the temp fluctuates madly, 1 minute it will be around a quarter, then without me pushing the car it rises to above halfway. I spoke to my mechanic about it and he said it is because of the pure age of the engine and the only time to worry about it is if it reaches the Hot max zone.
    Holdens go fast...very fast.
