much of a difference between the X-types and R-types?
Cheers, we have a few promising looking 4br houses between $500 and $600 a week, I dunno what other states are like.
I have only heard the type-r's on a sound board and un-amped in a ute, so they would sound slightly different amped in a sedan, but I found the type-x's were noticably clearer in the midrange and top end. I have the HPF set at ~100Hz, so I can't really remember that well what the bass was like, but I do know it rattled the shed without subs.
For the price though (~$700 from memory), there would be heaps of better speakers out there, and type-r's are probably better for the money. I only got these because I could get them at a price too good to turn down

Since I last posted in here, I have put on slotted front rotors with bendix advance pads, and just brought it back from RVO Automatics, where they rebuilt the transmission and put in a stage 2 shift kit, and a couple stronger bits.
On the way home I was testing it out up to the 80k speedlimit, and when I hit second the back end started trying to overtake me. Shifts plenty quick enough now, and I'm going to have to be more careful in the wet!

LMAO @ poo!
Good job on the dash modification mate. How well does the heater/aircon work now through just the side vents? Do they blow a bit harder now?

I rigged up a cover for the centre duct behind the dash so pretty much all the air that would have gone out the middle vents goes to the sides. That said, I did pull it out during that heat wave and put a spare dash back in so I could have more air con.
Cheers mate, I still don't see many around that I would rather have....except for mine in 19's

Hey mate, i always keep an eye on your thread just wondering if theres any updates?
Also, where did you mount your amps?
Cheers.
Sorry, I haven't updated this for a long time.
I don't have anything much to say as I've been really quite very broke all year so haven't had much so spend on my car. There have probably been a few minor changes but nothing is springing to mind right now.
I have an s-pac bootlip spoiler that I will paint up in the next few weeks and may or may not put on depending how it looks without the rest of the kit
I'm not sure if I have mentioned it here yet but I ditched the 2x12" clarions and have been running an old shitty 10" sub for what seems like forever while scrabbling for change to get something decent, and by the end of the month you should see another 2x12"s in there with a new amp.
Sweefu - at the moment I have 2 amps up on the diff hump and another one under the false floor. That works well with the sub opposite the spare wheel and still leaves me acres of boot space.
I know that is a lot of amps for the basic setup in there at the moment but it kind of a bitsa from a few different setups I've tried. At the moment I have a bit of a plan for something a bit different and kind of wanky that should be a bit of fun, then I'll be looking for something a little more permanent depending how it all turns out.
But anyway, at the end of this month when I finally get a bit of spare cash things should start to change around here.
Have some more pictures:

Yeah, I'd love an SS kit, but paying rent is taking priority at the moment. Funny how that happens

Or I could buy one, mistakenly get it painted your colour, and then decide to give it away? Sure.
Also, Pretty sure those photos are ancient... And what's happening with that whole audio sponsor thing?
I was talking with Joe (the new sponser) about it the other day and when I get the cash I'm waiting for I'll buy a bit of gear off him. As I mentioned the other day, I have a few "wanky" but kinda cool ideas in store.
Yeah, those photos are pretty old. Scav's car has been undrivable in the shed for a while now but when he finally gets his shit together (I hope you read this Scav) we will go take some more pics. I have a couple nice spots lined up
You should definately buy that ss kit you were talking about as well Fonzie

Thoughts?
The spoiler is just taped on there for the photos until I decide 100% whether it looks any good without the ss kit.
I also haven't polished/sanded it yet so it will be glossier when/if it goes on

That looks like a pile of shit. You should definitely give it to me
Nah that looks awesome mate, i was a bit skeptical at first of the lip without the kit.. But looks great. Very impressed with the colour match, I would've thought it'd be quite difficult on a 15 year old car... Maybe paint the boot garnish too? Or shoop it first to see what it looks like...
EDIT: Regarding the boot rattles you mentioned... Maybe sikaflex? Or find some thin rubber and put under it... Either would help seal the holes too i guess?
Pretty sure its the wrong colour for your car Tim.
Hopefully it'll blend a bit better when I polish it up nice n shiney
Yeah I was thinking sikaflex as well to try and keep the rattles down. I think it will need something in there anyway

Well if you're offering, you could paint it my colour. Cheers
Sikaflex is like an antichrist on this forum, I hate the crap... But i guess you're not intending to take it off. Not sure how it works though. In a tube like silicone, or some form of double sided gooey tape?
No idea, never used it before.
And this was the 1st time I had used a spray gun so I would wait to see it up close before you go asking me to paint shit for you. I don't think it's too bad, but i'll wait til after its polished up to make my final judgement....whenever I find time to do that
