Default Olddogs VS 5.0 litre Exec

Heres a few pics of my VS rebuild. I bought this car originally in '99 from a dealer in Inverell, NSW. It had 5000 kms on it and i picked it up for $32k. It was stock apart from the SS wheels and boot spoiler and a 3 inch cat back. A few years / a few kids later and i had to sell it to get a wagon, it had 3 more owners after me who progressively wrecked it. I bought it back in September 07 for $3k, the roof was stove in from where some chick jumped up and down on it, bent chassis, most panels dented, it had been used to transport feral goats (!) and compression down on 2 cylinders and still pulling like a train! It had 136000 kms on the clock. I christened it Christine (as its taken a real kickin, but its still tickin) and drove it til the rego ran out. I took a few months to collect the parts and panels i needed, then bought another shell and started to do a full rebuild. I've done all the work myself except the windscreen instal, rebuilding the air con compressor and recharging the system. Work done was, complete strip and refit to new shell of everything including wiring, interior, dash, air con, air bag, engine and trans (after rebuild) diff and front end, steering, fit new extractors (argh) etc etc. I picked up some good panels so i fitted them, panel beated the new shell and painted (paint is my own blend, it still needs to be cut back) Project started April 8th 2008, Car ready for rego (with blue slip) June 14th, 2008. When i was done i just sat there and wondered why i went to all that trouble....then i took it for a spin....ahhhh you gotta love VS's eh?

Heh you're right about the space thing, if you have a good shed you can do anything. The time thing sucked though, almost every weekend and week night was devoted to the build, i'm happily bludging at the moment. Also, if you plan things out it usually goes fairly smoothly.

I'm thinking of a gas conversion in the future and probably some sort of body kit, maybe a touring car front etc, maybe a blower in the future as well.
