Can't say I want to stick my tongue up Dave's ass....
I replied to your original post and then to his comment. Then I read further and saw your last post lol
Ok, so what was the actual quote you got off them for the rebuild then? The way I read the post was that it was going to cost you 4k for it installed. I must've read it wrong...

Gees, quit bitching fellas. Lol.
I was gonna say, 4G seems a lot for a tranny, but then its not quite like that is it? plus, like you say, might as well shell out now, and not have to worry bout it later.

Exactly right ^^^^
Well the reuild is around $1000 give or take, then add the extras on top. So around the $350 mark for the shift kit / servo, the stally will be a bit etc etc. I'm guessing around the $2800 - $3000 mark.
Then i'm doing the diff, then, last, i'll be saving like a mother****er and i may as well stroke it out with a few little extras. It's all a long drawn out process.

Your going about it the right way cobez, by the sounds of it you want to keep the car for a while so why not do it properly the first time, no point in beefing the motor up then destroying the box even quicker. Get your service, rebuilds and worn parts replaced then spend the cash on it, youll appreciate and like driving the car more and longer...
Many people on these forums wont be here in 1-2 years with the same cars because preventative maintenance hasnt been carried out to the proper spec, or any at all. How many of you have seen a commodore been run into the ground?? People would rather buy a sports exhaust or diff gears then fix up their suspension, motor and transmission.
Thats why there so cheap today they have so many problems accumulated that it would take 5 grand just to get it into good shape again.

Exactly what i am saying man, sure half the stuff i want in the transmission isn't necessary, but "isn't necessary" is boring and tightass in my opinion. It can only make the car better in my opinion, so why the **** not. I don't mind spending the money, i have plenty of cash left over to spend, and if i plan or making alot more power down the track, at least the trans will be able to take a bit of a thrashing without ****ting bricks like a factory, **** weak cheap ass trans would.
I am sick of cosmetic bull**** on cars, did all of that with my VP. All the money on this car is going into power, and a little bit of suspension gear for handling, but nothing major. Stock springs are in it already, and it's already got Pedders shocks front and rear, just going to whack front and rear swaybars in with some Pedders springs and that's about it.
The plan from the start was this car was to do the transmission, then the diff, then the engine last. But the idea was to also think about what engine work i wanted to do eventually, then set the trans and diff up to suit what i would want for the engine later, but something that would still be very useable and handy on a stock engine UNTIL the engine work comes.
I want to stroke the bitch to 355 eventually. So the trans will be perfect for it. Having it on a stock engine for a little while won't hurt at all, it would still be fun actually. Not to mention how many of my mates drag their track cars (ricers mainly) down at Calder most weekends they can, so i'll be heading down there soon to drag a few other 304's for some fun.
Thanks mate
