ok so i recently purchased a new car the vr was prity much immaculate and passed an racv test...
something no1 picked up is a whistle in the cabbin when you reach 100kms.
if you wind the window down it goes away untill you hit about 110-115kms.
and also every know and then when a truck goes passed it whistle.
its like air is being forced into the cabbin but i cant find where i thought it mite have been thru a hole in the firewall but have used silicon to plug all holes in the engine bay thru the firewall.
was wonderin if any1 knew of any possiblities i may have overlooked or if any1 has had this problem be4 me.
any help would be much appreciated
so it sounds like its coming from the front of the car?
at 100kph my VS whistles like mad... but thats the diff. At first it thought it was air being forced though a 1/4 window. I find it goes away if i put the stereo on above 10
yeah whistles over 100kms and comes from the front of the car behind the dash and when its really windy or driving into the wind sometime it whistles at like 70 80 90 kms
was thinking maybe a seal or hole somewhere havent removed the grill below the windscrean wipers to check for holes or broken seal yet
but yeah i have noticed when i crank the volume it dissapears ahahaha
Make sure its sound from air movement, and not from a pully or something in the engine bay...
Get a mate to feel around the foot fell then your driving to see if you can find a breeze.
OH, Can we please get this thread moved to the VR/VS section?
yeah its deifinatly ot a pully although i jusdt had ones bearings **** themselfs and the pully whelle oerheated and shattered and that was a prick of a thing.
as for moving the thread how i go about that im new to this forum about 1 hour new to be precise...
welcome to JC then. This section "my ride" is basically for showing off you car. Further down the page there are various sections. One is VR-VS which is where issues and faults/questions go.
Hopefully a mod will see this soon enough and move it
thanks for the welcome im workinf on getting some picz of my car and posting a thread like yours to show off my V6 beaast haha so i guess i post it here then
post it in this section, but start a new thread
I have a '95 VS statesman and it has just developed the whistle exactly as you are describing when i go over or around 100 km. It is definately caused by the wind because when you slip stream behind a truck or something it goes away. I have pulled nearly all of my dash apart and it is coming from in front of the passenger airbag. Have you found what the problem is yet?
