hey guys i just wanted to know how much $ would you think i could get for my vs?
i want to upgrade to a 5.7 vt
car has:
20 inch wheels just brought a month ago.
cat back exhaust.
has done 194000km
paint is in amazing cond
nothing wrong the the car drives like new.
car has never been thrashed always treated like a princess
always seviced every 5000km.
also do you think if i did some airbrushing on it, that it would increase the price?

have you checked on carsales? or trading post? Check them, then you will get an idea.
IMO, id say around 4-5grand MAX

It is pretty hard to price VS these days, You dont say what model, and engine/trans config. The bum has realy dropped out of them, unless it is something special out the factory. I paid $7000 for a VS Senator, with a 2months old paint job on it, and then could not make a dollar on the car, ended up giving it away same price and that is a Manual 5.0ltr Senator with new paint. And on the other hand i paid $1500 for a red vs berlina with nothing wrong with it and 115K on the Odometer, again i struggled to get my money back with this one as well
If you really want a let down price the vehicle through REDBOOK they will give you lowest dollar you will get, and then go from there.
Me, I would not even pay $3000 for it, Sorry, it would have to be a Clubsport to interest me even then no more than $7k-$10K for that model in a Clubsport.

$3500 for it if its a v6
$3500-$5000 for a well maintaied v8
$5000 for factory sc6 (maybe a little more if manual)

cars are so cheap over east. a car like that would cost like $6000-$7000. a calais dumped on 17s with about 140,000kms cost some guy i know $6000 here in WA.
i got 7 for my vs a few months ago but it was very modified.

Id pay $3k for a mint vs now. You can get vy's for $8k now.
on carsales.com the vs's that are going for 3k are a heap of s h i t theres some going for 5 and they still look like s hh i t and they have around 200,000km

i got my vt for 12500 mate. body is in very good condition. i was gonna get a vt calais for around 10 but it had a lot of kms on it. so there not too expensive these days

Yeah, it's 12 years old now and even though it's in mint condition the fact is that big cars are taking a hit because of fuel, thus pushing older model prices through the floor.

mate just chuck it on car sales for like 6. be patient and im sure u will get 5 for it. there are a lot of young p platers now that would love a car like this cos of the new laws etc.

You will never get what you want for it and most people want something for nothing these days, also VS = lighter than VT, True not by much but it all countsi am wanting to throw a LS1 into my calais when the ecotec dies a cruel and unusual death
and LS1 motors a getting cheaper by the day! Just a thought

put stock rims back on and sell the 20's priv or put them on the new car
serviced every 5k is a good thing, if you can prove it with service records.
imo sounds like a very nice car, i'd pay you 4-5k for it.

Mate mostly everything would need 2 be changed so unless you really want the car then the conversion is not for you, and in that case you would be better of selling the VS for what you can get and putting the cash towards the car you really want! With that said if you do want to keep the car and do the coversion then all your running gear will need 2 be replaced brakes upgraded, and it would be a major undertaking! As for price Depending on where you go, i would say you can get most of everything you would need from a wrecked vehicles auction for $5-7K!!
you can buy 6ltr crate motors brand new for under $5K but your best bet is the first option as if you buy a wreck then you get loom,ecu,diff ect! just have 2 do your home work before you do anything and decide what you really want 2 do with the carif you do go ahead with the convo then you will also need the 5ltr K-Frame as the ls1 items on the later models will not fit! anyway just some things 2 think about
