    Default VSII Berlina

    Hi all,

I'm glad to say I have finally managed to get my hands on a commodore I picked up a 1996 VSII Berlina a couple of days ago, so here it is.

Keep in mind that everything that's abnormal about this car was that way when I bought it, I haven't personally modified it at all. Wish I could say that I had

    - Slightly lowered
    - 18" VT GTS rims
    - Tinted windows
    - Debadged except for rear lion
    - Aftermarket sound system (will be replaced with my own shortly)
    - SHINEH PAINT. According to my girlfriend, her mum, and my mum, it's 'Plum', so I'll go with that.

It's sitting on just over 175000K's on the odometer now.

Personally I'd like to see it modified but thanks to the majority of the high and mighty 25+ crowd, I can't do that while I'm on my P's.

    25/10/2009
    - Foamtuned
    - Corvette 2nd gear servo installed
    - Trans cooler installed
    - Monroe GT Sport rear shocks and new treads all round

Sounds like it's also got an aftermarket exhaust system, though I don't know what he's had done to it. Sounds good though

Considering getting it dumped a bit more and maybe drop the spoiler off.

    Would look something like this.

Also considering extractors and maybe a tune, not sure. Dunno if it would be worth it, being restricted to pretty much only those mods.

That seems to be the popular opinion hehe. I dunno, all depends on how much it'll cost me to get it done. Given the choice of either dumping it, or getting extractors + a tune, I think I'd rather the go fast and go cheap bits.

    Ok,

    I'm considering a few mods.

    - Super6 CAI
    - Pacemaker Extractors
    - King Springs Superlows
    - Greenfoam tune if possible.

I'm wondering, would shorter shocks be necessary for the superlows? I don't know how low I could go before it became a problem.

Also, would the combination of CAI, extractors and tune add up to any noticeable difference in performance? Would it be worth the ~$750 performance-wise?

    Thanks

lol I don't know about that

I like the colour of mine, and the condition it's in, but I'd still prefer yours :P Only reason I'd pick mine over yours is coz yours would be the type of paint to attract idiots and their metal car keys, I'd imagine. Mine looks decent, but it doesn't draw the eye too much

Anyways, I've gone ahead and bought superlows and shorter rear shocks for it, if they arrive by friday then I will be fitting them on saturday morning Hopefully I'll have them in this weekend!

Just a couple of new photos of the car, better light etc.

Got some new springs and rear shocks on the way, was going to put them in today but they haven't turned up yet So, I'll hopefully be putting them in next Saturday instead. Monroe GT rear shocks, and King Springs Superlows in the four corners.

Also, Greenfoam tells me my tune will be done this weekend, so I should have it in next week some time

And one more photo, the blue LED strip I put in the boot this morning. Much better than the weak little white globe that was in there before

Also got two green footwell LED strips, one of them is in the passenger side but I did it at about 10:30pm the other night and decided I didn't want to go doing the other side at the time as well hehe.

It's looking good mate. By the way that spare wheel strap should be inside the carpet not on top of it.

Hoorah, my foamtune arrived today, installed it and loving it already That Jason sure is a useful bugger isn't he?

In other news, I am still yet to do any other mods, however my new superlows and rear shocks have arrived now, so I will see if I can change them over this coming weekend

Also when I have a little more money I wiull try to get a super6 CAI from Holden.

More possible modifications are now including new diff gears and perhaps a corvette servo... Not sure if I will, but I will investigate thoroughly

Been a while since I posted in here. A couple of things have happened to it since last post.

First, I had a minor mishap with the front right wheel. Evidently the previous owner overtightened the wheel nuts and cracked the studs. Over time they were and sheared through, ultimately resulting in the wheel coming off at 90kmh on the Ipswich Motorway. Two weeks, $800 insurance excess, a new hub, new brake rotor and new quarter panel later, it was back on the road.

Since then there's been some minor electrical issues, with a battery shitting itself as I tried to leave for work one morning. Now the driver's power window UP switch is playing up, which will hopefully be fixed with a bit of a clean and some CRC. The rear right door lock actuator is also boned, so I will need to replace that and clean the rails in there.

I will quite possibly be buying myself a Super6 CAI tomorrow after I get paid, and once I've paid back some debts, I will be buying a corvette 2nd gear servo.

The list of possible mods to the car has changed now. These things I am definitely planning on doing:

    - Super6 CAI
    - Corvette 2nd gear servo
    - Get it lowered with the springs and shocks which have been sitting in my garage for the past two and a half months Due to circumstances draining my money like a wife, that's been delayed a lot.

And these things are possibilities but unsure as yet.
    - 3.7:1 diff gears
    - New sound system; New sub + amp, front coaxials, 4ch amp to power parcel shelf speakers and door speakers. Looking at around ~$1500.

Been a while since I updated this thread, unfortunately not a whole lot has changed with it... But it will be very shortly, if it doesn't go the way of my springs

I ended up re-selling the springs, decided I don't want to be scraping the car too much, nor do I want the excessive attention from police. Short shocks fitted though, as I later found out that the previous owner already had short springs, but no shocks to match it >.> Unwittingly driving around with un-trapped rear springs is gheyy.

For about a week now I've been enjoying the addition of a new corvette 2nd gear servo, gives it a good kick in the guts on the 1-2 shift, definitely worth the money Also had a trans cooler installed at the same time, the bloke reckons the trans is in great shape for having done nearly 200,000km now, so the cooler will help prolong it's life.

After feeling the servo effect, it tempted me into buying a stage 2 Transgo shift kit as well. Paid for and to be shipped shortly I hope, it should be in within the next 3-4 weeks Perfect time to buy, seeing as eBay USA has them ridiculously cheap, since their dollar is so weak now.

    Near-future modifications are:
    - Stage 2 shift kit installed (3-4 weeks)
    - MACE 1.9:1 rockers (~2 months)
    - LSD conversion and 3.9:1 gear ratio swap (3-4 months)

I don't have an assload of time or money to put into the car, but if I can get these things done, I'll be more than happy

Two more photos as well, they're old though, on to my green P's now
