Had a minor hiccup today. Put the crank in and connected one of the piston and rods in to check for clearance, and as it rotated the rod wasn't clearing the bottom of the cylinder. Tried grinding out a little bit from the underneath of the cylinder, but couldn't get far enough without risking hitting water. Ended up getting scat rods instead of the come ones and they managed to clear the cylinder with minimal grinding. Attatched is a picture of which part of the rod was hitting the block, will hopefully be able to put a picture of the block up tomorrow to show where we grinded.

more strength/reliability. they are flat top pistons with engine now gonna be running high compression, not set up for forced induction anymore

    I realise it's for strength.....

It's just way overkill on an N/A engine. A good set of I beams and a set of Hypereutectic pistons would be more than fine in an N/A engine and save a lot of $$ too.

Edit: So you have changed to I beams since the photos?

Yes the ones in the photos were H beams, but now we have changed to I beams. The guy putting it together for me sets the standards of his engines pretty high, and always uses the best of the best when he can. Just the way he does things, which isn't a problem with me haha.

Blown V6 Hatch - I think your right with it being overkill, but at least you have piece of mind knowing it should be pretty damn reliable

The block has been painted, and the cam has been put in. Is now off to get balanced, then once it comes back tomorrow we will start putting it all together.

Block ready for balancing, with timing cover on.

Picture of where we had to grind part of the block out so that the pistons would clear properly. Refer to a few posts above

Righto!! The engine was finished today, here are some pics of putting it together and the finished product. Now I'm just waiting on the stall converter to arrive and then it's going straight in!!

Another picture of the bottom of the cylinders

    Final checks for clearances

    Rods on the crank

    Pistons are in

It's finished!! Rocker covers and gaskets are not on yet, same with the fuel system. They will be changed over once we pull the old engine out.

Well, the stroker engine is bolted in, still have a bit more work to do though. The radiator is getting fixed, and we need some adaptors for the new injectors to make sure the clips stay on. Also have a new dizzy cap put on, as well as new fuel lines and radiator hoses, fan belts and stuff like that.

Here are a couple of pictures of the new engine sitting in the bay

And this is a picture of the old engine, it had a blown head gasket, check out all the coolant that had been pissing out the side of it.

i think there needs to be a competition on who has the shiniest engine. you or morton. now you just need to get some new paint on that throttle cable bracket. looks great though. hope it all runs well

Really, you reckon it is worthy of a competition? I'll have to check out his thread and have a squizz at his engine. I know the bracket looks horrible!!! I wouldn't mind polishing it up and just leaving it unpainted
