HEY
Recently got my first car, and i'm stoked..! Seen some great things done to cars on this site and some great ideas. So many ideas that i have no clue where i should start to make my car more personal and unique. I own a 95 vs comm and plan to for years to come, say ~10yrs, cos she has plenty of life left on her and i don't travel far so i'm not treating her bad.
The kinda ideas i have atm is to get some badges off, thnx to debadge-your-car-10-minutes, and was wonder if this method might work for these strips that are left on my rear window? see pic for more of a clue.
I'm getting some decals for the back window just something small, certain letters that mean something between me and mates thats in the form of a cross, like the sothern cross stars but just 4 letters.
I like the idea of getting my dash painted but have no clue what colour scheme would suit.
i like this but not the colour, just an example of how i'd get it painted.
I've got a cd player already in but thinking getting new speakers, and also is it worth keeping the covers for the front door speakers cos i'm not too of a fan, tried taking off today to see what its like underneath but couldnt fully take it off so i just put it back.
Anyways i'd love to get some ideas of wateva.
Cheers everyone.

I was gonna say don't waste your time on cosmetic crap and spend the money on power mods, but then noticed you are a red P plater, therefore cannot have any power mods.
That sucks.
I dunno, if you wanna go nuts, get a bodykit and a respray, lower it a few inches all round', chuck some 19" wheels on her (will fit with no scrubbing if you use 235/35/19 tyres) and yeah, maybe throw a VS calais interior in it, stereo and yeah that's all i can think of.
You are pretty limited to mods being under the new P plate laws.
VT brake upgrade kit, for when you get of your P,s so you can throw a charger in there later on ect SS lip kit, lower it, full upgraded suspension package, retrim interior in leather or nice cloth?? But the first thing i would be doing is new tint 18% all round, then look @ some different mags, debadge ect, but anyway nice car you have there overall mate, im sure you will get it sorted![]()

Good call ^^^ Yeah sling it low on say maybe a Whiteline, Koni, or cheaper, a Pedders full suspension kit. Springs, shocks, swaybars, strut braces, all bushes, adjustable panhard etc.
But if you are gonna put 19+ inch wheels on, get the wheels on first THEN lower it.
As above pretty much... do all the basics of debadging, fixing stuff and generally cleaning everything. Then get some wheels, lower it and get a sports exhaust to get it sounding nice as the 6 will sound. Whatever the order of that stuff is personal preference...nice colour it will look smick when its done good luck mate![]()
Can't get an exhaust, he falls under the new P plate laws judging by his red P plates. Sports exhaust is considered a power modification under the laws down here in Victoria now.
Really? Wow that sucks...
But exhausts dont even do anything major power wise... pretty stupid law...are you off your P's yet cobez or does it only apply to new P platers and doesnt affect u?
the new looks area complete bs if u ask me, fair enuff about safety and that tho, but they have killed des drivers for new generations by allowing only one passenger, and for the power mods, not driving a v8 i can sorta understand for the in exp drivers but i dont see a prob for getting a sports exhaust on a v6.
Yeh i am a fan of the red.
Debadging this week and taking the mudflaps off.
lookin into getting new rims and that and will look into 19".
Than get it lowered and i wanna get new speakers.
as if ud respray that ... its beautiful paint ... and u will attract a lot of attention getting 19's by police and funny enough, ive heard rumors debadging and removing mudflaps are both defectable.
the thing i laugh at is this
mags = wheels for more grip and performance
suspension = handling and performance
yet a louder exhaust is a no go
what ISNT deemed a performance mod in vic.

SIR LS1
the two ton go kart
hey mate nice car. my car is white so i have painted the interior white and black well just the dash atm but plan on doing the rest of the car. my friend has a blue vs and has done it silver, blue and black looks great but he also did new flooring and roofing so that all makes it look that much better. i find puseing ur exterior colour with black maby or white for red should look good but its up to u and its really easy to do. good luck and pm me if u got any questons ill try my best to help out.
in s.a you can get done for removing your mudflaps as stuff can flick up onto cars behind you and i heard this but dont believe it ... cops can defect you for removing badges cause then they cant tell what kind of car it is . sounds like ass to me though

Nice VS mate, looks clean.![]()
Yeah, if you wanna put off the expense of rims for a while, just lower it and an exhaust, will still look sick.![]()
Also, that law sucks big time. I'd hate to know what they gonna have in place by the time I get my Ps.
Who knows, they might even deem a 202 as a 'high performace' motor. LOL.

Nice VS mate,
I'm also on my Red P's,
so i know how its like
(got them on the 1st of July 08)
budget mods:
*tinting is a nice place to start off if you want
*repainting/re-fabricating the interior
*attach the rear P plate to the number plate since your car is red, might look abit more cleaner
*lowering (not sure 100% about cost)
mods with will set you back $$$
*big rims
*pro repaint (cheaper DIY if you know what your doing)
i was bored one day and got some Pro-Strength Octane Booster
don't know if it counts under a performance mode, meh
the car sounded nice for awhile
hey does ne1 know how to get my handbrake grip off in my 96 vs commodore, ive tried pulling it off, and im not a little guy, so i dno what to do. thanks
Try posting in the right section for starters.
Thanks for thread digging though![]()
first up, look after that paint. ask any detailer red is a prick of a colour to buff and they will charge accordingly so keep the polish up to it. interior and bodykit is a matter of personal taste and how much you want to spend. big wheels and lowering would be a good start, if the budget allows some decent shocks and swaybars will make it much more fun to cornera VT brake upgrade with decent rotors would look good behind some new wheels. maybe start saving/chasing parts for a V8 swap or turbo kit for the 6 for when you get off the p plates. its a tidy car with some tasteful mods it will be even better
Hi mate.. my advice save your dollars and when you are off the P's do some power mods. My VS ute was stock and not too fast when I got her. Now after some money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and mods like extractors, sports exhaust system , memcal upgrade CAI and diff change to 3.89 she now goes like a shower of sh@#$%t for a V6.,

People, please note the date the thread was made, nearly a year ago. It was only dug up by someone posting in the wrong area![]()
mate take the strips off the doors nd get clear oval side indicators nd spray the garnish above ur rear number plate the car colour. maybe tint taillights
definently sack it clear side indicators new rims and remove the spoiler will look tuff
People, why bother posting back to the O.P??
