Smile My Vr St8o 5.0l Project

    Hi Guys,
I'm a newbie to Just Commodores, and i though i'd share some pics of my statesman. I'm going to restore this car + do some engine mods + do some interior/exterior mods as well.

I'm thinking of turbo or supercharging the engine + a respray in black + making the interior black too.

    Current Specs:
    > Standard 5.0l V8 / auto (Wanting to convert to a 6 speed manual)
    > Standard Brake System (Wanting to convert to a performance braking system - 4 piston calipers in the front 2 piston calipers in the rear + slotted/drilled discs)
    > Pioneer Stereo System (The one in the pics was a Sony - it was in the car when i purchased it.) - Not looking to change very happy with my stereo setup.
    > Standard Rims (Wanting to upgrade to a set of 19 or 20' rims)
    > Standard Suspension (Wanting to upgrade to a racing spec but still keeping the ride nice and smooth)
    > Standard Exhaust System (Wanting to upgrade to a dual run system with extractors, twin cats and quad tips)

please post your opinions - much appreciated.

Oh my goodness, get that bonnet emblum sitting straight NOW!!! It's annoying me so much lmao

That's a BEAUTIFUL car though. What a stunner Paint looks really clean and polished in that pic. And the engine bay is nice and clean too! I've seen some shockers in my time, yours is beautiful.

6 speed manual: excellent choice. You can get adaptor plates made up to fit the 6sp onto the back of the 304 block. You'll need to get a manual ECU though, but that's not too hard at all.

Brakes are always a good upgrade. Be prepared to pay big bucks, but it's well worth it if you have rims large enough to support big discs.

I'd suggest 17s or 18s with a nice bit of dish. You'll run into a lot of problems with huge rims. Not enough sidewall flex, expensive tyres, and very heavy rolling weight. 17s or 18s will allow you to fit big brakes, and will handle very well.

The suspension... well, you can pay as much as you want to There's a lot of info on suspension around these forums. Have a search and see what comes up

Good luck with the car mate, let us know how it comes along!

    Thanks Morton,

Yeah, the bonnet emblem no longer exists - some tool stomped on my bonnet then broke the emblem off.

I have a new bonnet and Wh Statesman bonnet emblem that is going on the car once its perfected.

    Thanks for your post.

are you serious! i wouldve stabbed someone if they were to do that to my stato, but good list of future mods a 6speed turbo 5ltr would be the sex but in the meantime throw some 20s on it and either bags or pedders shocks n springs just to pimp it up a little.

And park it where people won't step on it, for heaven's sakes

    Run them over next time.
