Howdy all - need help.
I have a 1998 VT Acclaim (V6 Auto) that is having problems with the transmission. Basically, when driving along (especially high-way driving), if I have the cruise control on and am going up a hill, it has something wrong with it's gear selection. The problem is it randomly will not go back into overdrive after it goes up an incline and will sit in third and sitting at about 3500rpm. The only way i've found to overcome this problem is to pull over, turn the car off, turn it back on and continue driving until it happens again. As you can imagine it gets quite annoying.
Has anybody had something like this happen to them or heard of anything similar to this?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
could need a reco stall convertor. it sounds like its not locking up properly. just a guess
Sounds like it could be going back to limp home mode. My VR started doing that due to a damaged wire on the speed sensor. No engine light would come up but it did log the code.
Check your codes and see what it says.
