Hey there, my bro's got a VXII S with Foglamps.
He purchased the car about 7,000km's ago (38,000 total). All of a sudden the fog lamps aren't working.
What are some common problems and checks I can do to find it.
Thanks in advance. (fully, I might be able to squeeze $50 out of him If I can fix it)
I don't use windscreen wipers, i just use the superior handling of the STI to dodge the rain drops.
Try changing the relay, its in the engine bay, also the relay is energised by turning the parkers on. Check the parkers fuse, you'd know if they weren't working. Possibly the plug behind the spotties switch has come loose. Or both globes have blown, pretty slim odds though. . .
Good Luck!![]()

Yeah I looked at the relay, couldn't get it out though.
Parkers fuse ay.. Would normal low beam lights work if the parkers weren't?

im having the same prob with my VT SS, the LH Side headlamp fuse keeps blowing when i turn on the floodies/driving lights. a few days ago both low beam GLOBES actually blew along with the left hand side fog/driving light GLOBE !!!! im going to try my relay tommorow as tonght i put 55W globes in the foggies replacing them from 110W so i hope that helps.......
On my VS the parkers were seperate to the low beam head lights.
You'd know ne way if it was blown ne way, you'd have no lights inside at night. If thats not the prob and you cant get the relay out, get someone to turn the lights on, and put your finger on the relay to see if its working, you should be able to feel a click, and hear it too. If nothing and your parkers are working, then i'd say the relay is cactus.
Hey secki, WOW, you have an evil gremlin!!!You may have a short somewhere? ? ? Have a look round you lights for any melted cables, look for loose connections, look for any bare conductors . . . Its hard to say without actullay lookin. But hopefully this'll be a good start for ya.

Ok well I haven't got a chance to test the relay yet (it's my bro's, he has it most of the time).
I called my local holden and they said the relay cost's $6.55 so I'm just gonna replace it anyway, however Holden will charge $30 for labour to replace it (5 minute job and they'll charge for a full 30minutes, at $60 an hour... :P).
So how do I remove it? It doesn't seem like it wants to come out when I give it a bit of a yank, but I haven't been pulling hard just incase I bust something?
Is it a shake a wiggle and a pull? or a tilt wiggle shake move pull? I wanna do this tonight so when I'm doing my deliverys I can illegally use these sexy foglamps.
Also, is it possible that it's not illegal to drive around with your foggies on when the weather is ok in vic? Cuz I've passed plenty of chops and haven't been pulled over for it...

The relay should be a pull n wiggle jobbie.
Its probly just stubbon!
Dont get Holden to do it, just flushin $30 down the john!!
I dunno what the laws r in regards to spotties down there, but I drive with em on most nights, and (touch wood) no copper cares. I dont think Holden would put em on, if they were guna be illegal? ? ? ?

Ok I replaced the unit and as soon as I turned the lights on the unit made a buzzing sound (like something electrical frying) and no spotties, looks like a short somewhere, any tips on where to start?
