Ok a mates VT V6 revs fine when in neutral, but when you plonk her in drive and take of it shudders all the way like it is running on 4 cylinders or misfiring, and when you are drving along aswell.
What could be causing this any help is much appreciated ?
try changing the fuel filter and cleaning the throttle body
I think he mentioned that it runs fine in neutral. It would run like shit in neutral with a dirty throttle body and fuel filter.
Sounds like it could be many things to do with the transmission,
Check the transmission mounts and oil.
If its none of the above then its a possible sensor problem.
check out the gearbox mounts gotta replace it
WE broek down on the way home, engine started then died 2 seconds later, then wouldnt start at all, NRMA came out and said it looks like fuel pump cause as he was bashing it the car started and only stop when he stopped bashing the fuel pump, so we got towed, finally home now after a 6am finish from work..........
maybe the throttle position sensor on the throttle body. there prone to go.
there is many things it could be like ozzie says if it was a fuel pump it would be running like shit in neutral as well. when the key is in the ignition you turn it to start does the fuel pump prime?
if it doesnt check the voltages to the fuel pump, if there is no voltage then check the ECU. it might be faulty it wouldnt cause vibration, if not then check the vacuum hoses it might be causing the vibration but not the not starting issue.
there seems to be more then just a fuel pump wrong.

Hi Mate, had a similar problem, turned out to be the leads arcing out, try starting the car at night and have someone give it a bit of a rev while you look under to bonnet to see if you can see a spark any where, if you do then get some new leads.
