Default How to Degas A/C cheaply?

Hey all, just about to try and change my heater core and heard you need to degas the A/C before you start. Can anyone tell me how to degas this as i want to start ripping my VX apart in the morning haha especially ringing around to find that the Auto Air shops wanted to charge me $1,500 for the job!!

    Thanks guy!

to do it LEGALLY you need to have the gas recovered by a licenced specialist..

it is possible by holding one of the valves in the lines open is highly illegal with massive fines tho

not Only massively illegal, it can be extremely dangerous to yourself, i have seen many people that are trying to degas thier A/C and they have ended up with freeze burns to thier face, arms and body even with clothes on.
the last time i checked it was a very large fine Dished out by the EPA...... i think its somewhere around the $1000 Mark.
there is no physical way to change your heater core without a necessary recharge of your system

When you ask the ac guys for a price tell them you just want the gas recovered not the system fixed.
Then when you get it apart go get the couple of orings you need and put it back together then you will just need it vaced and gased.
