Iam about to trade in my crappy VX exec for a VX SS just wondering if theres anything to look for that i might not no about
Cheers
I had a VX SS. Get a series II if at all possible. It has the extra link in the rear suspension which limits camber wear on the rear end. Overall my one was an excellent car.

thats my plan to get a series 2 thanxs
Im looking for one too. Just waiting to find the right one. I have seen a few lately that have nearly 200 000km. what is the average amount of kms these cars have these days? 200 000 seems like a lot. And what price should i be looking at. They seem to be around 13g-15g for a 6sp here in canberra. is that about right? Any common problems that they are starting to have that should be looking for?
Australia. Love it or leave it
well i've had my vx from new and only failure was an oil sender $130.
never needed a rear wheel alignment as jax say its perfect.
180,000k on the clock now, still very enjoyable to drive!
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.

oil leaks are the main concern. look underneath the car etc. rear main seal is common a common fault and costly to fix as the trans has to come out. ive had my vt since 165000 km it now has 182000. since then ive done, rear main seal, new cam sensor seal and a new waterpump. otherwise its been very reliable a goes awesome.
i have a VX 2 6 speed with leather - 180000km that is for sale - $13500.
see the for sale section if interested.
Like what everyone else has said watch out for the usual leaks. And check the diff and trans for whine or harsh or thumping gear changes as we all know what people do in V8s. Insist on a cold start to check for piston slap and check for blow by and other odd engine noise. But remember they are noisy engines because of the alloy block so the ticking of lifters may sound worse that it really is.
15-16k seems like a gud price as wen i was lookin down here they wer fetchin 18k (SA is shit for that)
and 180,000km seems high to me, i got my vt for 13k with 100,000km
i got my vx for 13 with 110k's and a sunroof but you can get them for around 10k now
Around about how many kms do you change the clutch on these cars? i dont want to buy one then have to replace the clutch straight away. How much is a new clutch on a vx ss? Im guessing a lot more then my VN haha
Australia. Love it or leave it
My VX was an auto but my VYII had 135,000 with the clutch showing no signs of wear when I sold it. I owned this car from new. By far the biggest factor on clutch life is how the nut behind the wheel treats it. It's a bit of a lottery in a used car unfortunately.

see the first thing i generally check is for rubber under the guards.
