    Default window seals

My VT Calais electric windows scrape when you wind them up or down. The windows are slow going up and down. The battery is new so it isn't that. I think either the seals are tight or window tracks out of line, but seems strange that all are the same. The out side of the windows are scratched in several places. The outside seals are very dry and brittle. How hard are they to replace and at what price.
Maybe someone has another idea that may help.

Yep, I know what you mean. Commodore electrical systems are notoriously weak! That's why it's important to get a nice high capacity battery for starters! You will find that the scratches on your window are from little rocks and sandy particles getting caught in the seal. What you should do is wind your window all the way down, and then stick your finger in the seal channel and rub all the way along the seal. You should feel all the little particles dislodge and fall into the door. Don't worry, they should all eventually fall out the bottom of the door.

Changing the bottom seals is quite a task. It requires you to take off the whole door trim to get to it. I can't remember if you need to remove the windows too, but I have a feeling you do, especially on the rear doors since the windows don't go fully down. The seals are about $60 each for the fronts, and maybe a little less for the rears. But the time spent in the workshop will set you back another $200 or so for the time taken to do it. So if you can do it yourself, then give it a shot. Otherwise, i'd just leave it.

Oh yeah, and on the back edge of the window where the metal slider wraps around the door frame, just spray some silicone spray in there. It should help free it up a little more.

    Hope this helps!
