Hi,
I have a vt exec, I was wondering, what if anything in regards to an alarm or a immobiliser they came with standard ?
Cheers
They do have an immobiliser but I just this minute finished reading in article in the Daily Telegraph which said the 1999 VT Commodore Executive was No 1 on the list of most popular stolen cars. So how good is the immobiliser, I don't know.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
thats cause the VT is awesome and everyone wants one heheh
yeah standard imob damm horn doesn't even go off
the system is basic and can be got around
most cars stolen are towed or stupid ways like keys stolen and so on
ya can get an upgrade alarm fitted approx 369 bux fitted most car audio/security places do them and uses the original factory remotes
Yeah thats the same article I just read, although I figured as the above post, the majority of stolen cars have decent alarms/security features, its just that they were towed away which you cant stop.
VT comes standard with immobilizer that is very easy to beat,
optional alarm that is available beeps an additional horn but still uses original immobilizer. either fit a kill switch or an aftermarket alarm if you are concerned
If it is really that easy, can someone explain it as soon as possible. I have posted this question earlier: How to bypass the immobiliser, don't want the car towed to the locksmith!
Sneeky.....
I remember when the VT came out there was talk about the actual immobilizer being virtually impossible to get past but the one weakness it had was the same one that all factory alarm systems have and that's the override built into it.
I'd love to know what mine is. It has normal horn when going off plus another siren that honks like a horn. I've set it off before. locked the car but left the boot open. go back lift to close and it screams away. Easier to set it off than shut it off.
