    Default Driveline Shudder

Few weeks ago changed the diff oil in my vt with 75-140.
Anyway it was actually quite noticeb;e the difference but now i have the feeling my diff is locking up.
When go at rolling speed and turning the car theres a noticeable knocking sound from the rear.
Seems to be getting more severe and getting a bit worried.
When i did the oil i forgot to add the addative would this be the reason?
    Cheers

    I use this stuff:
100% Synthetic 80W-140 Heavy Duty Limited Slip Differential Oil - Nulon Products Australia

It's got the additives in it already, so you don't need to worry about that.

Sounds like it could well be. If it's an LSD then drop out the oil and put in the right stuff before you wreck it completely.

Ive had the exact same problem and im sorry to tell you this but its your center bearing in your tail shaft its got nothing to do with you diff oil, if you dont fix it your center bearing bracket wil snap and could brake you hand brake cable thats directly above it.

does it sound with the noise is coming from under the back seat floor?

it pretty cheap to fix i picked up a new tail shaft for $80 its simple to fix just takes a bit of time

you will need a size 18 reverse torx bit aswell

sorry to dig up an old thread but im getting worried about my diff.
i have the same shudder an my VX clubsport. most noticible at low speed in 1st or 2nd.
it seems to be getting worse. you can hear things grinding and it shakes the whole car.
i had my lsd cones de-glazed about a week ago and thats when it started. have since taken it back to the diff place.
the guy didnt wanna test drive it again but told me that its normal and it should go away after 500kms.
    im not convinced.

    any suggestions?

get a second oppion in another shop.. then charge the original installer the "inspection fee" if its faulty.

you got to remember.. alot of shops will say nothing wrong because then they have to fix it and they dont get paid for it.

so if it does fail.. they will try to blame you for abusing it or something.
