VT Diff Problem

Hi,
my 02 VT has started to make a noise in the diff area of the car, I have in my day changed many CV joints in jap cars so I know what one sounds like when they let go, the noise I'm getting is exactly like a CV rattling it has been annoying I can tell you, 2 days ago I was driving out wanneroo rd and it started making said noise again, then it got louder and louder I thought the diff was going to fall out, I stopped at some lights when I took of it was quiet as like nothing had happened, is it an issue with the VT's or am I up for a diff replacement ? because at $400.00 a side to get the replacement cv's and shafts is way out of my range at the present. thanks in advance for any help on this matter. get the load off the cv's and give em a wiggle, see if theres movement..
