    Default hit a gutter

hello, Lastnite in my vx I hit a gutter at about 45kms on the LH front. The tires sidewall was torn and the rim lip slightly bent. Replaced it with my spare tyre. Iv checked everything and nothing seems to have broken although when driving now sometimes I get a a real low phiched sound coming for the lf front area which sounds like tyre noise. Just wondering if a brand new tyre needs some time to wear in or something or is there something I have broken?
    thanks

Some tyres can be noisy. Try rotating the tyres and see if the noise goes.

ok took off the tyre again and spun the hub it is abit noisy compared to the other side. Also it was a pain getting the wheel off and on. Do you think some on the wheels studs have been streched/bent abit?
accents I couldnt replace the noisy tyre with another one as I have only got the jack that comes with the car so havent got nothing to jack up the other side to swap wheels.

most likely your wheelbearing, they go for around $150. Very easy to change
But how did you hit the gutter?
Like you go straight over it or just nudged it or what ?
Because more then likey i reckon your crossmember just been jolted back as these crossmembers are strong and always move back.
    They're designed to do that

    Good luck

Get a front end alignment. Will tell you if any of the geometry is out of whack. It is entirely possible you have buggered a bearing - doesn't take much at times. I had one die after a railway line once.

Maybe - Wheel alignment should tell you everything you need to know there.

When driving, if the noise gets worse when you turn right - where most of the weight is on the front left wheel, then it would indicate that the hub is gone, as most people have suggested, it's the most likely scenario. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME BUYING SECOND HAND ONES - BUY A NEW ONE. I've replaced mine with a second hand one 3 times now, all have gone, or at least started to go once i had fitted them.
I've never heard of bent wheel studs causing noise before, i don't see how they would bend, either shear off or they are fine.

I'm wth reaper... hitting a gutter at 45kmph... depending on the angle... can cause some considerable damage that yuo want not see with by looking at it... but will cause issues.

Get an alignment... then you will know if anything is bent... at which point I would be looking at the fron wheel bearing.

    Good luck with it.

Well my bearing and hub are deffintly gone. Its obvious even without getting an alignment done. My old man should replace these for me early this week sometime. Then after it's been done i'll take it for a wheel alignment to see if anything has been bent or anything else is broken ahhh this will put my saving for my rims about 10weeks behind bloody apprentice wages.
    thanks guys

^^^ Yeah... good idea mate... you won't want to go out and get new rims and then discover that something is bent and this is destroying the lower profile tyres.

    Take it easy.
