Click/Rattle noise on startup when cold and when hot.
G'Day. I've tried scrolling through these forums for answers but have had no luck so i thought i would start a thread to find out.
I own a 2002 VX series 2 commodore with 108,000km on it. Shortly after buying it (with 101,000 on the clock) i started hearing this annoying rattle-click noise occur for about 15 seconds after i start the engine. Its not very noisy when started cold but usually is worse if the engine is hot and i've been doing alot of start-stop driving meaning drive to one location after another. Its rattles rapidly then quiets down to a single click. Its not the injectors clickin as that noise is different. I've changed the oil from 10w30 to 10w40. Ran an engine flush for 15mins then drained the oil and replaced it (with new filter ) and it still does it. I then pulled the inlet manifold off, replaced all 12 lifters, and refit it all together and it still does it.
Does anyone know what the prob is and have they had it fixed? I'm thinking it might be the rocker arms, Any ideas?
If its not working, you're not hitting it hard enough.

If the pick up was blocked, would'nt the engine seize?
