Help? Passenger side door handle doesn't lock

Hey All,

Tried the search tool with no help for my particular problem so I ask the JC gods for help... lol

Basically my passenger side door handle (external) is not working.... but the inside handle is.... The actual locking mechanism also seem's to jam sometimes and not allow the door to close as per normal (need to fumble with the outer look to get it to securely close the door...

Has anyone else had this issue and can someone please help!

My mate has had this happen to him (has lived with it for around 6 months & its on the drivers side) i determined the problem is a broken latch where the metal rods goes up when you pull the handle up from the outside, all you have to do is get a new door outer door handle bit and get it repainted. Although your problem sounds the same it could be a different latch that is broke i would take the door trim off and inspect door handle.

Cheers bud, already confirmed the external is fine, so it may be the locking mechanism itself... Anyone else had this issue?

But when I pull the outer handle the metal rod that goes further down does move... Therefore not being the external handle....

Pretty sure I've been given the answer off another forum which was that my "actuator" is buggered... Pretty common supposedly for VT-VZ...

Will have another fiddle on Monday.

Ive re-conditioned my locking mechs and apon accident the door would not close (lock was jammed)

The actual mechagnism flips around and jams the door. A screwdriver flipping it back fixed it.
Might also just be sticking and need to be dry lubed.

Or the striker has moved. Check the paint around the striker to see the difference in colour and if its moved.

ive got the same problem on my VX, think it the actuator also, as when you manual lift the lock up the external handle works, maybe there is some way of adjusting the actuator up higher therefore pushing the lock up higher? i dont know havent even had a look in side yet. ideas anyone?

There is a stupid little plastic bit which hangs off a thread coming from the door handle...

Being plastic and hollow it bends and no longer engages the looking mechanism.... Basically $2 from Holden and adjust it right would have fixed my issue....

Replaced the actuator anyways as it was abit rubbishy when I took it out....
