    depends on budget i guess
i find the viper alarm is pretty good with paging
    Directed Products, Viper,

i also still find the cheapest way and one of the best is a hidden killswitch but at the end f the day if they want your car that bad they will get it

Follow it with a tank. As mentioned if somebody is determined enough you will only deter them.

How good is the stock immobiliser in VX's? When i get a vx ss i want to know if the stock immobiliser is alright. Do they get stolen often?

Make sure your daughter locks the thing before she leaves it. Seriously though, VT's usually come standard with an alarm, and Immobiliser as standard. So they are pracitically unstealable. Besides if someone wanted a base model VT that badly they 'would have to re evaluate themselves as to wether they are criminals or idiots
If its not working, you're not hitting it hard enough.

According to a study, the VT is australia's most stolen car... So there goes your practically unstealable theory!

As said, if someone really wants your car, they'll take it.. The deadlocks and standard immobiliser are ok, but a full fledged alarm system with 2 point immobiliser is your best bet.

    Is it a series 2?

if it is get her to make sure she dead locks it every time.

Also I got an alarm put in for $450 (i cant remember the place i got it from now - but theres plent out there) and its served me well. Depends on the alarm you get, but most have the 'panic' function as well where you can set off the alarm by pushing the lock button - that can come in handy too

    yep, thats how mine is.

and to activate the 'panic function' or whatever they call it, you just press the lock button when the car is already locked, or press it three times when youre locking it so its all on the one key that you already have

the series 1 vt also has dead locks but you have to activate it by inserting the key into the drivers door and turning it to the left twice
