Default Urgent k-frame question (vt v6)

Hit a gutter quite bad last night in the horrible conditions we had, only got a quick look last night but the k-frame definetly has to be replaced, not entirely sure what else has to go yet.

What needs to be done to get it out? Jack the car up, wheels off, then...? Any help is greatly appreciated!

i'd check your front suspension aswell mate you might have damaged something there too. To remove the k frame you'l need to support the engine a nice sized bit of wood across the strut tower or metal tube and some chain to take the weight off. Reomve the engine mounts by unbolting them from underneath k frameremove the lower control arms and z bars and front swaybar removove the 4 bolts that hold it to the chassis

well my car is in my driveway so i plan on hooking the engine to the beams then putting some wood where you suggested, once the new k-frame is in it has to go to pedders so will it be driveable if theres slight damage to other components?

it should eb depending on damage to suspension i'd say itll pull hard to one side so be careful and take it slow

u also gotta take the steering rack away from the k frame,
bit of advise is to jack the engine up abit, then support it at the top and take off crossmember.
That way you can put your new crossmember in then lower the engine down, makes life easy
    good luck

    Default Careful look over

Get it checked by a professional if you want to be sure of getting it straight again.

I did a similar thing once and got launched. I was certain the front end was going to be seriously bent, but it came down to scrapes and wheel alignment in the end.

A bent k-frame is a big enough hit to kink the crumple zones in the chassis rail.

Undo the engine mounts and support the engine, also put a bar cross the top (guard2guard inner lips)and secure it from the top 2.Then undo everything attached to the frame. Here, use it as a guide.Good luck.

Just looked at your pics, yours looks similar to mine. The left wheel is pushed back, the drivers side on mine now sits forward. Also mine has been pushed across (i.e the inside of the passengers side wheel scrubs, and the outside of the drivers side wheel scrubs.)
