Hey everyone! Long time no post!
Hope i can get a few thoughts on whats going on here. Something funny is going on in my auto transmission, car is a 2001 HSV VX Clubsport, and when it changes gears it seems like it is.. "riding the clutch" sorry best explenation i can give. normally it drops streight through gears, 1,2,3,4 etc.. and when your doing 120 in 4th & put your foot down it drops back to 3 & takes off, But at the moment, when you boot it in say 4th, it will drop out of gear, rev to about 6000rpm and slowly drop into 3rd. same as taking off slowly (from a stop light or a my driveway) 1 to 2nd.. it seems to "ride the clutch" when it changed gears. (2>3, 3->4 as far as i can remember change relatively ok)
Best explenation i can give, anyone seen this before or know what im up against? i have just returned to work on a minesite and wont be home again for 6 weeks so its kind of hard for me to "take it to the mechanic", hopefully someone here can ease my mind till i get home.
And NO i havn't been doing anything stupid like burnouts or racing. issues happened after travelling Darwin -> Kununurra on a busy highway with sh**loads of trucks & tourists to overtake.
Cheers guys,
Mike.

Trans slipping maybe?? Any oil in the trans??
yeah checked that, its only 300km's since its 110'000 service.
Never Look Back
if the fluid is fine
I would say the box is stuffed and is time for a new one
cheers GM
if the car just came from a service, i would take it back, if they did a tranny service they could have stuffed up when adjusting the bands or something, especially if it wasn't doing it before it went in.
Mine does some weird shit some times too, but i also believe its to do with throttle position switch being dodgy(traction control off light coming on). But almost sounds like torque convertor isnt locking up properly. Will it stall up with foot on the brake or does it slip and rev? Obviously dont do it too much to test it as you will burn it out.
Adam.
spoken to a few guys in the mine workshop here at the mine i work on and they say its either a lack of oil, oil pickup issues, torque convertor.. 4 days till i can really get in and have a look. could have quesssd the timing of it.. my after sales 2 year warrently ran out about 3 months ago FFS. also been told it may be a cheaper option to convert it to a 6sp manual.. so ill have to suss that option out if its going to cost me a rebuilt/replacement.
Never Look Back
ok if it has just had a service most probley the filter has got a crack in it
the filter is also the oil pick up for transmission
the transmission shops do not ajust anything on a service
if the oil level is right take it back to where you got it service if it still does it the clutch are burnt but you will find it is a oil pick up problem
