Hi All,

New here and had a look through the forums for answers but to no avail.

Heres the situation.

Performed a standard 200,000 service, bar the damn fuel filter (Leave that to the experts! Damn high pressure fuel line!) and everything worked fine.

  • Oil & Oil Filter - 10W/40 (Not right grade but recommended by castrol)
  • Air Filter
  • Spark Plugs & Leads

Drove like a charm till I stopped at my gf's. Accidentally reversed out of the driveway with the park brake on (No alarm sounded), took it off and drove to the shops.

All good right?

Got out of the shops and started the car, the damn alarm goes off. The park brake ! light stays on and 7 ascending beeps rattle off at me. I stop, check my handiwork, and notice that when the engine turns off, a hissing sound can be heard in the right top side of the engine bay. Not to worry, I think its just a vacuum lead. Drive back to her place, noticing it only beeps after a short stop, not while driving.

I decided to wait a while, and after that started the car with the park brake off. VOILA!! No alarm light and no sound. Continue driving for about 10km's and travelling at 80km - BAM - the sound and light start again. Confused I pull over, checking that the brake is def not engaged. I begin to think overtemp, so I drive with the heater full ball, and notice the temp gauge drop slightly, turn it off and it stayed there. The temp is sitting about half way between half and quarter.

I want to say park brake sensor. Can anyone confirm this before I pull the car apart?

Thanks

Joel
