VT wagon rear wiper problem

lately, the rear wipers been acting quite strangely
half the time, it will be fine,
other times, it will be really slow, taking about 30 seconds to do one wipe,
and other times do nothing at all, then 5 minutes later, it will do a wipe....
not too sure what the problems is, because if it was broken, it wouldnt work at all
anyone else had this problem?

Maybe go to a wreckers and get a wiper motor out of a wrecked one. and try that.

it could be a relay problem too...
