Default Painted Bumper Trim on Exec - What you all think?

While i'm waiting for my VZ parts for a front conversion i thought i'd paint up my executive bumpers and sideskirts.

I used Duplicolor DSH78 (Heron White) and Duplicolor Plastic Primer.. Washed the car nicey, Degreased the parts i wanted to paint, masked it off (front and rear bumper), took sideskirts off to paint though... Primed 2 coats, Top Coat 3 coats, 3 coats of clear coat will wait a few weeks to polish it though, i dont think it needs it but i thinik for $80 it's come out a lot nicer than what is was before. Sold the Chromes for some factory alloys

Will most likely remove the door trims when i get a caramel wheel and not paint them.. Sort of looks shit with them still black, i know

    Questions and comments welcomed.

Pull those black door strips off and paint the mirrors and it would look sweet!

it looks so much cleaner! and its often the little things that are always overlooked, that can make your car stand out from the rest. Nice work

Another option is to paint the door strips, can still protect your door and blend with the car

I would paint the strips rather that take them off so you still have some protection from ********s that open their doors and hit your car . My commodore is black and has no stripes and have a crap load of small dents on my doors .

Looks a lot nicer, especially now that those chromies are gone =P I need to get rid of my door trims too. Should see if my mate with a panel and paint shop has any delft blue left to do my skirts.

The top photo has been flipped. You can tell by looking at the number plate.

Tow bar looks like it's still there.

    Heya, yeah no problem.

It cost me $15 for one can of Plastic Primer, $12 per can or Duplicolor basecoat (6 cans), $12 per can of Duplicolor Clear Coat (4 Cans, still have 1 left over!), $3 one roll of Masking Tape, Newspaper and about 1 day in total which includes drying time between coats.

So, in total about $140.. You could prob do it cheaper, but i decided of using the right paint for my commie which was heron white and it being proper autopaint not normal spray enamel paint. Just take your time in masking the car off as its 50% prep as far as time is concerned.

If you have any questions just hit me up.. Good Luck

Excellent work mate. Huge improvement as everyone has said.

Now you just need to remove the black strip and paint the mirrors.

    Anyway, nice work

this is what i want to do, exactly the same too, paint the skirts and my mirrors. I've already taken off those black strips (actually i still have to finish it, i got lazy once it looked ok, called it a night and keep forgetting to finish it), it made the car look 10 times better i reckon.

    nice job
