hi im looking at updating my vs clubbys to a vx gts i have been researching them a bit and they say they come with a shift light does anybody know where this is located. is it the hsv logo that lights or something. Also do they go much better than a vx clubby? also is it true they have 3:9 diff gears standard. thanks
The GTS version of a VX was called the SV300, a sort of senator/clusport hybrid.
The GTS name was used in the VT11 (the first of the 300kw GTS with the C4B engine) and then again in the VY where it was available in man and auto.
The C4b engine has a camshaft problem, although most would have repleced the cam by now.
The std rear end is 3.9 in the manuals .
Cheers Col.
Yes they DO make a VX GTS, yes they are 3.91's, shiftlight is on the lefthand side of dash under temp gauge i think, VX GTS is rarer than a VX Clubby But the R8 is on about par i think, both absoulutely awsome cars![]()
BLOWN, CAMMED & SLAMMED R8 :twisted:Real Cars Dont Power The Front Wheels, They Lift Them
the sv300 is different more like a senator.the gts and the 300 both have the c4b 300kw engine and factory maffless and 3.9's.you can get the gts for pretty cheap now i saw a few around the 27k mark
There were a few guys on the LS1 forum who reported then the rear lobes on the cam were all broken and chipped when they replaced the cams and only seem to affect the C4B engine.
Here is one of the threads, there are a few.

Also found this in relation to how many were made.
They made 100 VTII's (27Red and 73 Black) All had identical interiors with the only option being a sunroof.
They made a couple of hundred VX GTS's, however unlike the originals, the VX's didn't have leather standard. They also had problems with the 19" wheels and tyre wear, so the early VX GTS's came with a shadow-chrome version of the then R8 wheel. Once HSV changed over to the PZERO for 19's all VX owners were offered an upgrade package to the 19" rim/tyre combo.
The VX2 was nameplated the SV300, and they went to back to a limited build again. This car used a silver version of the VTII Wheel (back to 18") but they didn't sell very well and there were brand new ones selling in Brisbane months after the release for under $80k.
(They also made a limited edition (25 I believe) Senator300 which was basically a GTS with a senator interior).
The VY GTS was limited to 100 vehicles and was the first 4 door GTS available in an Automatic Transmission.
The VYII GTS was an order only vehicle and it came with the Ohlins adjustable suspension.
