hey guys, this is the first time using this forum, im starting to do some work to my VT S, and ive been told forums are the best way to get info on absolutly everything, so im hoping you guys can help me out.
i wanna get a stainless CAI, and im not sure where to get it done...and also wats the pros and cons about if i will actually get more power, or less, or if its even worth it
thankz
get an ss inductions CAI or FIT also have a couple of good ones.
Stainless for now because your car is basically stock (im guessing) is all show and no go.
Also the steel will heat up quickly and rob you of lower air temps.
If you do use S/S piping invest in some heat wrap to insulate the pipe from heat transfer.. my 2 cents
agreed.. S/S is gonna cost ya some coin, go with proven methods, it's cheaper and will work better. heat soak from S/S counters any gains you may have found. kinda defeats the purpose of a CAI
heat wrap defeats the purpose of S/S, it's all about the bling right?![]()
thanks heaps for the replies
atm its only got tuned extractors with 2 1/2" thru with hot dog, ive only jsut got onto a mate who knows ppl that i can get wat i want done for a bit more go for the good old v6, but you guys seem to have alot of experience aswell so im jsut tyring to get as much info as possible.
thankz again
come up pretty good, does it do much for ya compared to stock? and wat it set ya back?
It's amazing how many people spend a lot of time and money for something that doesn't do very much at all on a V6.
My advice would be to spend your money on a tune. There are a couple of good tuners on here in Greenfoam and delcowizzard, you will see better power and economy in a tune for probably less money than you could ever hope to get from any CAI.
Get back in your box mate, I was totally on topic.
and also wats the pros and cons about if i will actually get more power, or less, or if its even worth it
His exact words, and I am answering his question as well as commenting on a few other posts.
lol i really appreciate the input boys...it all helps and in thankful for it.....any info i get get is better then nothing...i agree on the tune, that is also on the to do list. the main reason for the cai is one it breath's easier and a bit more power, and also for some bling under the hood, so all of this is helping...dont argue guys :P
It will definitely add bling. It will add zero power. It will, however, give you better cruising economy.
that a good enough reason for me![]()
thanks dude
otrcai + ls1 = power gains and worth the money
cai + ecotec = waste of time and money bling doesnt get you to 100 any faster
you already have a cai from factory so changing it to something else wont make it any more efficent
arr this is really annoying, thankz mate, soudns like its a waste of time then
iv acually heard that even the hiflow filter like k and n ext are a waste of money on a v6 becuase apparently the airfilter is the least restrictive thing in the whole inlet system so it dosent do much help.
Iv been told that changing diff gears, getting a tune and even some hi ratio rockers are the best bang for your buck mods.
oh ok thanks. wat exactly are rockres, ive heard of them b4 but not sure exactly how they work
They are the little arms that push the valves open. High ratio ones open the valves more and let more air/fuel in and more exhaust out. They give you better acceleration.
is it true that ultra hi ratio rockers 1.98 can give 20rwkw extra power?
YT has a good rep, they are new too, not remanufactured like a few of the others.
As for the amount of power increase...that is debatable. Google it, you may come up with before and after dyno results.
