Having a few problems with my v6 ecotec vt, yesterday 30 seconds after driving of, the engine died, and refused to start, turns over but wont kick. 5 minutes later it started first click and was fine again. today, i didnt even get out of the driveway and the same problem occured. only this time it would not restart at all. same issue, turns over but no kick. so under the lid i go to see what could be holding it back. low and behold there was no spark. As we used a timing gun to check this, we know its not the plugs or leads, my guess would have to be that the coil pack is shot. but another thought also popped into my head, if the cam sensor is shot, it wouldnt be trying to spark, so my question is can anyone tell me a way to deciefer which of these two could be causing the issue? or does anyone maybe know what the issue could be, if it may be something else.
on a side note, the day before she died, i had just returned from a trip from alice springs to melbourne. she drove every step of the way without missing a beat. after making it to my destination, it was the very next time i started it that it first played up.
thanks guys
the first thing you should do is check your error codes. It could be your DFI or several other things.
can i check those codes myself? or do i need to take it to the mechanics or auto electrician. reason i havnt had it looked at is because if it is the coil pack, i would replace it myself.
ok, sussed out and checked the codes, ironically it only had one code appear, that was 12. satisfaction operation. funnily enough, im not really satisfied with its operation
how do you check the error codes, i know this has nothin to do with this but yeah?
bugger, code 12 does not help.
I'm guessing it is NOT a problem with a coilpack, because it has 3 coilpacks and will still run if 1 fails.
DFI or CAS perhaps. DFI is easy to change but not cheap. It sits under the coils. maybe you need a gregories or something
