6 cyl or V8? T56 is a ton stronger than the t5 that is for sure.

realiabilty yes, but performance wise no. also you would need to change tailshaft (maybe) your diff gears, and some wiring adjusting, if the OE doesnt link up with the T56

VS Utes had no V8's and thus V8 was an option for the "s" model so it could be either.

    thankz alot guys
i know it would b a big job and a fair bit fo to and change...but all in all if its worth it i would do it....so if i will have a low change of braking it..(knowing its only hooked up to a V6) and the fact of having a 6 spd i will change it ova......but from the performance side of things....and the diff ratios....will she b any diff on take off and in general acceleration

Not really, better pedal feel and shift, but without diff gears to suit, its like driving to perth from melb via sydney :P

You'd be wanting a diff ratio change too I'd imagine, the T56 has quite low ratios - eg 1st gear is 2.66:1.

    You'd want at least 3.9, probably 4.11 even. I have a T56 + 3.7's, and if I had a V6 behind it, it would be rather dull.

The 6 speeds never came out on a 5L. They were the box of choice on the VR/S Stroker motor HSVs, aswell as the LS1.

I don't know the electrical side of things, but mechanical, all you will need is a bellhousing, and maybe different input shaft (not sure on V6, as mine is a 5L). Tailshaft will be the same if your car is already manual.

Also have T56 with 3.73s, was advised not to have anything less than 3.9s, 4.11s would be best. So next time the diff goes in for a freshen up, i'll be changing mine.

end its still behind a V6. compared to the T5 in it now...would the T56 with bellhousing and different diff b better?

    Mine went in without hassle.
I bought a kit, so it already had the correct bellhousing plate and input shaft that i needed for the (4.9L)
