Default Putting needles back onto cluster?

Does it matter how you put the needles back onto the cluster? or just slide them straight on and your sweet?

If you mean the speedo cluster then you can just pop them back on and with your finger push the needles around until their on the lowest point

before you do it (this is what i did anyway) take a photo before the needles are off, then replace them in the same position

my rev needle is loose (when i take the cluster off if i hold it upside down the rev needle moves with gravity whereas the rest stay in place). I've been told that this is why my revs are about 750 - 800 off. I bought the cluster off ebay from some bloke who had painted it silver and all the needles silver, so is it possible he just put it back on wrong or would my needle be broken and not gripping properly?

wat model VT do u have?? if u got a high end model u may have the warning light check mode in the hidden menu using ur mode button. If u do wen ur all ur dash lights light up 2 check that they work ur needles will also move and show u if they r calibrated correctly or not as they will point 2 certain marks.

If not man no u cant just put the needles back on the lowest point, each cluster is calibrated diffently and wen sittin in the default possition if u dont get them in the same spot as they were previously they will b out.

have u already got the needles off??

Yes Ive already taken the needles out, i did this to change the cluster face to a different color. Well how would i go about putting the needle back in the right position as mine does not check to see if they are calibrated properly in that hidden menu.

the needle can only stop at a certain point which is anything until you adjust the needle to "0"

say if you push the needle back on and its sitting on 100kmph then you can push it around to "0" with your finger. the pin holding the needle wont move any further back. then flick it up to 160kmph and let go, see where the needle stops and again adjust it if needed

Sweet i just tried it and i kinda get it, does it matter how hard i push the dials in as they don't seem to work if i push them as far as they will go.

Doing this does damage the mechs they r best pryed back off and sat straight back down where they r ment 2 b. tho wat about the fuel and temp gauges??? sorry but that doesnt work like that ive had hundreds of clusters and the default setting on them r different from the next cluster, not all the speedo and tacho needles sit on the 0 mark either...

Only way that, that would work is if u went 4 a drive and used the digital speedo. or better yet a GPS would b able 2 help guide u 2 the correct speed. if u do that keep the clear face off so u can adjust the needles.

Not sure wat tool can measure the revs but im sure somthing is around u can use will. Mayb another tacho gauge lol?

Last resort is by using a tech 2 they can recalibrate ur needles. Mayb try askin an auto electrican as a cheaper alternative and see if they got the snap-on type unit thats similar 2 the tech 2 it may b able 2 do it im not sure.

Best way 2 do this if u need 2 take ur needls off again is 2 use some maskin tape and put them at the tips of ur needles where they sit in the default possition, mark them with a pen then u know where they sit. Even if/wen changing ur dial facia u can still line them up side by side.

It does matter if u push the needles down 2 hard as that can damage the mechs and also put the pin out of alighnment (VT Pins r much thinner than the VX's aswell). Wen u put them on slightly pry them up or relieve the downward force by lifting them back up with ur fingers.

If u do damage a mech done stress 2 much lucky 4 the VT's the mechs r plug n play unlike the VX's they r soldered in place.

I doubt its orginal man i have the exact same facia in 1 of my clusters, same colour and it also reads VDO on the facia but its still an after market face knock off. Orignals dont have the darker strip down the bottom and they dont use the different font on the lettering and numbers. If its orignal also u'll b able 2 remove the green paint on the backs 2, these u cant.

Default Replacing all VR needles with later model.

    Hi, I have a VR...

I want to replace my needles with ones that light up red similar to the xr8.

Are all needles able to fit?
Which needles can I put in my car from other models.

I want to replace all the needles, speedo, fuel etc..

    Thankyou

To change the color its not as simple as changing the needls, thanks for the thread hijack

I have 1 of those also but still after market. Check the back if u can remove the green film its original. There r test marks on the out edge of the facia which u can do it 2, 2 save taking off the green u dont want 2 remove.

when i replaced my clusters background, i found that when the needles are replaced if the dnt move freely and return back to 0KM or 0REVS etc then they wont work properly. So dnt push them onto far as they might not work correctly
