So my bother has just got a VR V8 ( cool ) just want to know what or how we can tell the difference between a VR and VT VX V8 5.0lt cause we think it has a VT V8 jut into it..any help would be good thanks.....

Well the there is only about 10Kw difference between the VR-VT 5Lt or 304 V8s. I don't think you can tell the difference unless u get it onto ta dyno. The VX's never had the 5Lt they had the GEN 3 5.7Lt as did the VT series 2.

Surely there must be a way.

Check if the engine number and VIN number match?

Or take the engine number to holden and see if they can find out what car it came out on?

Im not sure - but im fairly certain you could find out.

A dyno wont give you your answer - that's for sure.

VT 304's have roller camshaft, so could check that, would also suspect roller tip rockers not sure on that one though. and the obvious engine covers are different, but a bit hard telling by engine covers as they all fit regardless so could have been swapped.
