Hi ,
I will try to describe the fault as best as I can. I tried to tow a trailer a while back and it felt like the car was missing then surging etc. Prior to that , If the car was loaded and I was on the open road say doing 80 or so and gave a bit more fuel, it would 'splutter' but more like just miss. I though teh plug leads may be an issue and replaced them . All seemed better. today again, car loaded and open road and it was doing the same thing.
I am wondering if i do not have a faulty lead or coil pack. As my budget is pretty tight, does anyone know of someone that can look at it in Melbourne and advise/fix the issue. Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks
Bug
to test the coils get pliers and take one lead per time off the coil while the engine is running, if there is a spark transfering from the coil to the lead ur coils should be good
hey Buggy
i had a similar sort of problem with my VT....my mechanic replaced my DFI module and all is sweet, might not b the same in your case but its worth getting it checked out, there was no one that could help me or suggested anything like it or even close to it on this forum which is fair enough coz ive never heard of it.
the DFI module is the plate that your coils sit on and run their timing and everything, there about $260 odd, but that was thru my mechanic.
hope this helps
Does it sound like i am looking in the right area tho? would a mechanic or auto elec guy be best, or should I go to Holden. I was hoping to find a guy that knows this stuff, but has a passion to fix it, not just a fix if that makes sense. Then I know it's being done right
Just a snippet. I removed the metal cases around the leads on the plug end and a lot of missing stopped..... Any thoughts ?
yeh i understand wat you mean, i know how frustrating it can be when you really want someone to help fix soemthing who are really enthusiastic about it.
im sorry im not to sure about the leads and wats going on there, i was just puttin the DFI module in there coz its never really spoken about, all i know is that was the problem for me
where abouts do you live, i can reccomend my mechanic, he is really good, other wise just get it checked out by your local mechanic, usually something small and not gonna make your wallet too light![]()
