215 with a service is better than 200 without a service ...
K's matter but just factor them into your offer .!
well like any car, the further it has been driven there are more problems that can occur.
finding a vl with only 215,000 K's is pretty rare, (that's damn low for a vl) most i have seen are over the 280k mark up to 700k... but definately a car that is worth looking at twice and consider to buying
in my opinion.
and 215 with a service is better than 215 without? not sure about that one.
my 98vt has 118,000ks but that does not mean everything is good ! parts have a shelf life also so even if you have a 15 year old car with say 50thou ks on it some parts could be about to go anytime so ks are not the only factor by the time i hit 100,000ks my list of new parts is pretty long and this week il have to change cv joints and power rack so age and low ks is also a hole in your pocket
Engines last longer the more they are driven. Within reason.
A taxi can get a million + k's out of an engine because it is rarely "cold started".
Granny who drives her car 400m down the road to the shop once a week will be lucky to hit 100 000kms.
The rest of the car however, is a different story. Obviously the more use it gets the more it wears out. 215 000kms on an 11 year old car is slightly less than the average 20-25K a year, so it's about right.
i agree greenacc, if it doesn't have a decent service history then you might have to be prepared to spend big in getting it all fixed up. I bought my 2000 VT S with 240Ks, when i first saw it i thought stuff that thats ridiculous but when i checked the service history and got a mate to check the car out there wasn't any major problems. And its been running brilliantly. So just because it has 215ks doesn't mean its going to cost you a fortune in repaires, just make sure its been treated well.
Iv got a s1 spac vt factory supercharger
its done 310***ks orignal motor, changed the trans at about 305thou and a new charger, still dones burn oil and its had a hard life
all depends on how it is mate just have a good look over it
car is very nice, been regualary serviced, taken care of, just hit 215,000, and guy was selling because of buying a new SS, thanks for your helps guys, im picking this bad boy up Sunday![]()
