hey guys just seein what u think on a commo i found since ive never owned one.
got a dealer friend who has offered me a 2002 vx acclaim series 2 with genuine logged 40 000 on the clock
all standard etc etc
im pretty much only going to lower it with 20's and put stereo in it.
any issues i should be aware of at all??
cheers
13k with a set of 20's of my choice
Thats not a bad price. VX is a good model. Its really up to you as to what model. Can't really think of major issues with VX. I would go as late a model as the budget can stretch. Then save up for mods on a later model, you will enjoy more in the future. I just believe the VY and VZ is a better looking and nicer driving car than the VX. Also shop around for a standard car, and mod it urself. I picked up my 2004 VZ Calais with Alloytec 190kw engine in April this year with 88,000kms on the clock for $15,000 in fantastic condition from a wholesale caryard. I had been researching and looking for a while.
you can do better and newer for 13k.
Considering what I paid for my 2004 Calais, then yes he can do alot better. The VX is a good model and the kms are low so the price isn't too bad. But the kms are not too much concern if you go a little higher like my 88,000 on Calais.
Also better to buy stock and do it up yourself I think.
well only reason im keen on this is because i know the car has been looked after through its life. low k's dont always mean its been cared for
Ive had mates who drive there commodores hard all their lives yet they survive and keep going fine well over 200,000kms. I wouldn't buy a car just on the basis that its looked after unless it was an absolute bargain. 13k is a high price for a VX, except this one has low kms so its a little justified. But I would rather buy a VZ exec with 80k on the clock for 15k or under rather than a low km VX.
I bought a VX about 3 weeks ago (also 2002 model auto with SS suspension and an LSD) 17 inch after market rims very good condition, other then a small scratch on the rear passenger quater its body is perfect. It does have 100thousand k's more then yours (140,000) how ever i payed $7400. I agree with most of the other posters saying if you've got that budget go for a VZ or a VY or something a bit newer.
well i think they had a vz sv6 with about 75-85k on the clock that i could get for about 15 i think...should i get this instead?
lol i paid $17000 for my vx x pac manual with 44,000 2 years ago. but the end of the day im happy with the car so i dont care i paid more for it
Check out my ride here >>>>My VX Raptor

ill report back tmoz once i make some more enquirys!!!!
Personally i'd go the VZ SV6 if you've got 15 grand. But as HoldenOnn said, its if you want it, can afford it and would be happy with it.
Ok, but you pretty much have your answer. For the sake of 2k more, your getting a VZ SV6 with high output engine, more refined, newer and only a small amount of extra kms. Compare that to a VX Acclaim with 40k and your answer is the VZ easily. As I said, I got my 04 VZ Calais Alloytec190 only 3-4 months ago with 88,000kms on the clock for $15,000

oh that is nice too!!
there is ALSO (too many choices i know) an 05 vz berlina, 75k etc etc
which is 15,500
its stock, white in color.
it depends what you like man, i paid 12,000 for my vt series 2 with 90,000ks in perfect condition not one thing was wrong with it and i love it. if i could buy newer liek vy and vz i probably wouldnt, i love the vy-vz front so thats why im putting that on my car but i hate the vy-vz rear and love the vt-vx rear. its all about personally preference, newer dosent mean better. if you like the vz then go for it there great cars with a obviously better engine, but if you dnt care about power or anything then thats not really a problem. my car runs so smooth so i can tell you that, the vt-vx series are great cars. do your research look up some pictures go for some test drives and you'l know which car will come out on top for you.
goodluck mate
In my opinion, the market and car dealers benchmark pricing against the Km's a car has driven. In my experience over 20 years and many many cars the Km's a car has driven does not equate to a better, trouble free car. For example, I paid top dollar for a car with very low kays and over 2 years it had every symptom of that model despite a perfect dealer service history and imaculate presentation.
I'm currently driving a VX berlina that I got for $5K, it's done 290K, was neglected, never seen a holden dealer in it's life, no service history - and nothing has gone wrong in 6 months and it drives like new - I'm loving it!
My advice is don't get hung up on kays. Buy the car that obviously you can afford and secondly, makes you feel good when you look at it and drive it!
