Hi guys first time posting so I'll try and explain as best as I can.
I have a 2000 model vx s holden commodore. I recently got the battery replaced and I need that code for my cd player since its been "reset". I dont have my car manual on me and im wondering if codes are unique between models or is the code unique for absolutely every single vehicle?
Second issue is about my wheel alignment. I hit a kerb at low speed and my wheel keeps going to the left. I done a wheel alignment but the problem still persists. It's only a slight movement and the mechanic that did the alignment said that nothing was bent. Any ideas?
Lastly, my driver seat has a slight rock to it from back to front, not sideways. Is it possible to "tighten" the seat to its frame??
Thanks for your time.
Hey mate, I guess you have the vox headset( ugly big assed phone book looking thing) just go into Holden and they will run your car through the system and as long as you own it they can give you the 4 digit code in seconds, i haven't been charged when i needed the code but ive heard some have.
Get a second opinion on the wheel/camber etc.. I had an instance where one place reckon they fixed mine only to have it drive worse than before it went in. I got another crowd to recheck it and give me as print out to show the other company, yep i got a refund.
As for the seat theres 4 bolts per seat , 1 bolt at each corner so if none are loose its probably a replacement job if its that annoying.
Hope that helps.
Hey mate,
I recently got a VX commodore - not an s pack though.
With your wheel alignment problem, If nothing is broken or cracked, and the weight in your car is evenly distributed I don't expect your car to 'drift' much to the left or right side after having a wheel alignment 'professionally' done.
The problem with getting a wheel alignment done at a wheel shop, and I know people who have had a similar problem. The workers may be young, and unqualified if you were to get a wheel alignment done at a tyre shop at the same time as getting new tyres. - This is because some people there may be new, or not fully trained on the equipment.
What you did by taking it into another place, and getting a refund was the right thing to do. I suggest for you to get someone qualified to have a proper look at the steering, depending how fast and dangerous the 'drift' is.
Your second problem, with the seat rocking slightly. I am also experiencing this problem in my VX commodore. I expect that either the front two nuts the back two or all nuts are loose slightly - causing a forward and back rocking movement when accelerating and/ or braking.
I have yet to have a look at mine, and I don't believe anything to be structurally wrong with the seat/ and or mount. Either the nuts are loose, or the thread may also be damaged. If this is really annoying you, have a look at it yourself. If you can't seem to fix it then you should get it checked out by a professional or a friend who might know a little more.
Cheers![]()
