getrag rebuild cost

Hi i have a vt commodore 2000 model and was wondering if any one knew cost of a getrag 5 speed rebuild as im told by my mechanic front bearing is wearing out and getting noisey any info be great cheers

Front bearing would be your Thrust bearing if I remember correctly. To replace its as simple as removing the box, knocking clutch fork forward and it will come off, slide a new one on. About a 15 second job once the box is out. THOUGH, that could be wrong, I've never worked on a Getrag, but thats how its done on VK Boxes.

just had the clutch n pressure plate and spigot bearing n thrust race bearing done when i had mass fly wheel removed and conversion done and still has noise mechanic is doing engine mounts this week ill try find out what bearing he was talking about arrrhhh lol from what ive seen on internet a rebuild gonna be very expensive. any more info any one can give me in getrag gear box be gr8

He would be talking about the input shaft bearing. They can get quite noisy when they go. You dont have to open the box to replace them, not on the T5 anyway. But the box will need to be removed.

arrrrg the bearing is inside the box and will cost just few hundred more to fully reco it from 1200 to 1500 t5 seem to be a better gearbox than getrag... gonna shop around to see if i can get it done cheaper... heres hoping
