I have noticed a decent amount of heat comes from my 6 speed manual trans as well as a bit of noise..I am thinking about how to insulate the cabin from the box a bit more than just having the gear boot..I was thinking about tin foil in regard to the heat...but I am guessing someone knows a product that would be better than this..
Your thought are appreciated
Hey I did the entire underside of my VY with 3.5 litres of body deadener (two coats) Some places like where you are describing are tricky to get to but well worth the hassel. This is only a thought, I am sure there are many "experts" on this forum who have better ideas! Good luck mate hey.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
My first thought would be to use a sound/body deadener as VYMAD suggested. I would be thinking something more along the lines of dynamat (a bituminous layer with foil layer).
The stuff VYMAD is talking about is a tar like deadener you can buy in a tin and brush on or spray on. I would use this on the underside of the transmission tunnel, then layer the interior of the car over the transmission tunnel with dynamat (or a couple of layers of Flashtac from Bunnings).
That should insulate from a fair bit of heat and noise.
