Smile Got a 1998 vt Senator with the

355 Cubic inch stroker and 6 speed holinger manual...Car is in original condition,,,Firstly, people are asking how I can prove it is a 355stroker with a 6 speed hollinger gearbox and not a 308 with a gen36speed connected.....(removed, read rules)

What I want to know.....How many of the VT senator came out of the factory witht he hand built 355stroker motor and hollinger gearbox option???Is this car worth keeping for properity,,and will it be worth more than the normal senator with a 308 in it...Any ideas what the car is worth,,,Shannons say 19500 sight unseen,,,is that about right???

    Any help appreciated...

He said stroker motor, which wouldn't be the 5L.

Not sure exactly what they are, but it will be a 350 or 355 which is a 5.7L

Never ever heard of the gearbox in these being reffered to as a hollinger gearbox. Likewise another member on here has a VT with the stroker, and only has a 5 speed, and said it was factory like that.

Sweet, 308/304 same thing just injected over non...Block is 308,, ls1 is the 350CHEV motor
Holden built a 355stroker engine and 6speed hollinger gearbox setup, many applied in GTS however from knowledge small build number option with senators and other HSV models??,,completely different from your LS1..

Further more 355stroker is a known small number configuration...Could you kindly keep you comments tot he post and not to attempts at showing how smart you are..You advice was not helpful Know your subject before you wade into anything.

Can anyone help or am I going to get this type jester giving me useless knowledge,

    Red face

Thanks Harv thats better..Badges can be faked....I have heard that if you take out number 1 spark plug and check bore depth at top and bottom of stroke,,,There should be 3 inches(thereabouts) for a 308/304engine or 3.5inches on a 355,,,can anyone confirm this information..Oh yeah I do have pictures but not on computer yet,,,stay tuned for pics

Like i said, wasn't sure if they were 350 or 355, either way you said only the 5L. Most people forget the holden stroker motor.

Stocky not sure man, i asked the guy if it was genuine cause i had never seen either way, you'd think since VR and VS had the 6 speed that VT strokers would too.

And to the OP, if your claiming people don't know what they're talking about, PLEASE don't post that the Holden released LS1 is a 350 chev. Its a 346, no ifs buts or maybes. YOU don't know what your talking about in that regard (which will make people not even bother with the rest of your post )

VK`s were the first 304 they were carbied making the VH the last 308, I know why they did this (brocky and the mountain) but CBF getting in deep.

    VR/VS GTS stroker 215i
    VT GTS stroker 220i
VTII berlina 220kw lol lol lol.

As for LS1 and the 350 chev the only thing they have in common is there made by chev and share the same displacment everything else is different.

small details that can lead people astray, small things can change alot of things mate up to you whether you take the information in or not

The best thing to do would be phone HSV and ask that way youll get a exact number mate

if you can give them your engine and vin number they should be able to tell you what its running from factory

The 304 5L in the vt never had a 6spd gearbox, only the strokers. Nice find.

the change from 308 to 304 was during the VK build period, so VK technically were the last to have the 308

You can tell with the numbers which one it had. I had a 304 in my VK, but it was an 85.

We are talking series 1 here right???
I know with the VT GTS it came with a 220i stock which was the 5.0l (304) V8 which HSV stroked out to 5.7l (not to be confused with the series 2 Gen III 5.7l)
I believe that other HSVs could be optioned up when bought....
