Default VT ignition key spring broke?

Found that starting the VT today that the key stayed in the start position after starting and had to be manually turned back to ON. Sprayed some WD40 down the barrel and took the light shroud off and sprayed some in around the outside as well. Have trised now a few times and it doesn't seem to fix it. Has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean the spring release is broken and if so, how do I fix?

Yeah man, had same problem. Needed to change ignition barrel=$55 , Ignition Switch = $30 and also have to get barrel coded but that is cheapest at local locksmith, do it for like $20.
Had this problem to, then my barrel lock pin, to keep it in snapped and wheel locked on.
It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay!

Just replaced the ingnition switch and did the barrel at the same time. Works much better than I remember. The only pain was working out why the new barrel wouldn't go in - was because the steering wheel lock was on - this took twenty mins to figure out how to reset. Once this was done CLICK - it all went back together. Had to buy the special star screwdriver to remove screw from ignition switch. I replaced the tumbles with the new ones that came with the new barrel and the toggles all sat neatly as compared to the old one. The old barrel was badly scoured.

Cheers guys and thanks for your help - all done for $90
