Hey guys,
I'm going to be doing a manual conversion and I'm planning on buying a new clutch + flywheel package off eBay.
Can anyone tell me if there's any reason to choose this one:
Holden Commodore VS VT VX VY v6 CLUTCH KIT & FLYWHEEL - eBay Clutches, Transmission, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 21-Aug-09 17:30:40 AEST)
Over this one?
COMMODORE S2 VS VT VU VX 6 CYL CLUTCH KIT & FLYWHEEL - eBay Clutches, Transmission, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 29-Aug-09 18:12:05 AEST)
I'm also on the lookout for the actual parts needed to do the conversion, a local wrecker has a conversion package for $1400 but I'm hoping I might be able to snap something up a bit cheaper unless that package has a flywheel + clutch in good nick
Edit: Nevermind, didn't read properly.
I got my conversion inc clutch and flywheel for 950 off ebay.
Was that with a new clutch and flywheel?
I know you can get the packages with them, but heaps of people have recommended to me to go the new parts to make sure they're at least in good condition.
VT VX VY SIX CYLINDER HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH WITH FLYWHEEL - eBay Clutches, Transmission, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 30-Aug-09 10:35:25 AEST)
Just got one of these, Genuine Exedy clutch and solid flywheel package. Got it in 2 days and i'm now halfway through installing it. Good brand, good price and good seller.
That's more expensive than both the two I listed, and doesn't really answer my question :P
Actually its $5 cheaper than the first one. And he did kind of answer your question, you asked why the first one is more expensive than the second. He replied that the one he show is same price and a brand we all know and trust. The second clutch in the OP doesn't state a brand so I wouldn't trust it till I found out what it is.
I personally be asking that local wrecker of yours if that conversion package has a clutch and flywheel (wouldn't be much of one if it doesn't) and finding out what condition they are in.

I was including postage cost in that :P
Thanks for the link to that guy, by the way. I've sent him a message to find out exactly what parts he's got![]()
Postage was an extra $45 on that to newi.
GSL-rallysport (Clutch Kit & Flywheel for vt v6) has them for $1225 delivered
Yeah, I'm avoiding the 1000+ ones... I know you can get them sub $1000 on ebay. I just want to save as much money as I can do safely.
Ahh, fair enough then... That definitely changes my perspective![]()
Haha, that's fineI'll take your word for it.
I'm not sure if that guy selling the VY gearbox has everything... ie. clutch pedal box, master + slave cylinders, crossmember, etc. I haven't heard back from him yet but I'm guessing he was hoping to do a gearbox replacement in his VS, not a full manual conversion![]()
