    The fans stay on till the temp drops below around 90degrees

    Checked the basics like if its full of coolant?

    Overheating issues are usually easy to fix ..well easier than a transmission overhaul anyway.

    Thermostat could be faulty ..radiator blocked partly blocked and may require flushing or overhaul ..insufficient coolant, leaking hoses ..hopefully no blown head gaskets which can be indicated if coolant disappears with no obvious leaking .Check exhaust for steam or oil for water{moisture is normal when engine first starts}

    Your fan will come on regardless of the engine running or not so be careful. Do not removed radiator cap when engine is hot ..very dangerous. Sqeeze upper hose ..if hard do not remove cap as system still under pressure.
