recently i had a problem with my vt exec, she refused to fire up, had no spark, checked diagnostics and got up that it was the crank angle sensor, new sensor, bit of work to swap it over and still nothing, started looking for other possible problems, away from the sensor, by chance i loosened the side bolt of the DFI module/coil pack, and heard a couple of clicks, so i retightened it, turned the key and hey presto she fired up immediatly, tighten harmonic balancer drive away. 2 months no drama, two days ago, she stalls at a set of traffic lights (she has NEVER stalled before) but started again. yesterday stalled before i got to the end of my driveway, but drove fine after that, today..... she wont fire up, had to ride the cruiser to work in the rainhavnt had a chance to look yet, but it was just a no fire, guessing it has no spark again, but any ideas on what could cause this problem pressumably with the DFI module, or how to test it? i dont want to waste money on a new one to find its no better and the problem was a plug or relay or something. (like i wasted money on the sensor) any ideas on how/what to test would be great
ok so i just got home from work, i was leaving for work when it died, so had no time to investigate, ran a diag and came up with the following 46 crank angle referance signal, (i replaced that two months ago only to find out it wasnt the fault, but maybe i forgot to clear the diag after getting the car running again. 49 cam or crank angle sensor (signal intermitant).... seems more to have no signal right now. and 96 low speed fan fault..... not sure what thats got to do with no spark. so im still open to ideas, going to swap the coil pack and dfi and see if it fires her up, if so, i will purchase one rather than just stealin the one out of my old mans car.
It would be better to swap the one in you dad's car to see if it is the problem before you go and buy one. Check to see that the CAS isn't rubbing on the interrupter blades and that the connector is clean and is making good contact.
The low speed fan fault is common and just requires a new relay.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
that was the plan, must have worded it wrong, funnily enough, the old mans is a eh ute, runs well on the commodore running gear.... anyway back to the story, unplugged dfi, but didnt remove it, replugged it straight back in again.... as this is what got her started two months ago when she died, and hey presto, it kicked over straight away, guess im looking at a poor connecting plug. put it back in as firm as i could and hopefully it continues running long enough for me to hunt down a new plug.
