Hi guys.
My wifes VT broke the ignition barrel yesterday so today I brought a new one from Holden then had it put together at our local lock smith. The problem I have now is that it wont go in all the wayI have a feeling that the tip of the long shaft (the one that has that spring on it) might still be in the ignition, stopping the new one from fitting. I have tried to remove the electrical connector (on oppsite side of the barrel, but it to wont come off. Yes I have pushed the little pin in but still no luck. If I can get this off I believe I will find the broken tip still in there.
Problem is, how do I get it off.
Thanks guys
You have to make sure that the key is in the "ON" position to get the barrel in. There is a retaining screw that holds the ignition switch in place.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I understand that but I cant get the barrel in all the way due to a piece still being lodged in the other side were the wires go into. I have to remove that to get the piece of pin out.

is it a retaining screw or just a small push in pin? I have tried pushing the pin in but still no go. Cant see any screws anywhere
Bingo.
My apologies. It was a grub screw....... not a push in screwSilly me.
Problem now fixed......... broken tip now removed![]()
Can anybody tell me what this grub screw looks like? is it star shaped?
